%X ABSTRACT:In this paper analyzes the names attributed to the characters and the narrative spaces in "Marianela", in order to probe the relationship between the name and its referent and the fundamental reasons for the plot. The onomastic choice made it is not the result of arbitrariness but responds to certain purposes. The names, the hypocoristics, the surnames, nicknames, etc. that are through all the pages of this little literary gem often indicate, by affinity or antiphrasis, the moral and the physical characteristics of characters, and represent the key of a world in which The author expresses his ideas, but also his doubts and his hopes. RESUMEN: En este trabajo se analizan los nombres propios atribuidos a los personajes y a los espacios narrativos en "Marianela", con el fin de descubrir la relaci¨®n existente entre el nombre y su referente y los motivos fundamentales de la trama novelesca. La elecci¨®n onom¨¢stica no es fruto de la arbitrariedad, sino que responde a determinados fines. Los nombres de pila, hipocor¨ªsticos, patron¨ªmicos, sobrenombres, etc. que se despliegan por las p¨¢ginas de esta peque a joya literaria indican a menudo, por afinidad o ant¨ªfrasis, caracter¨ªsticas morales y f¨ªsicas de los personajes, actitudes y acciones, y representan la clave de un mundo en que el autor expresa sus ideas, pero tambi¨¦n sus dudas y esperanzas.
