%X Se realiza una definici車n de la obesidad y las formas cl赤nicas de su medici車n, utilizando los diferentes 赤ndices para ello. Se establece una clasificaci車n seg迆n el 赤ndice de masa corporal y por la distribuci車n, cantidad y tama o de los adipositos.  Se expresan los factores que constituyen riesgo de obesidad, la evaluaci車n de cada uno de ellos y los efectos adversos que produce. Se establece el manejo individual del obeso seg迆n los aspectos siguientes: dieta, actividad f赤sica, aspectos psicol車gicos e intervenci車n terap谷utica y quir迆rgica. In this article obesity and the clinical forms of measuring it are defined by using the different indices to obtain it. A classification is established according to body mass index (BMI) and the distribution, abundance and size of adipocytes. Obesity risk factors and their individual assessment are presented along with the adverse effects they may cause. Individual management of the obese patient is established b taking the following aspects into account: diet, physical activity, psychological considerations and therapeutic and surgical intervention.
