%X O artigo tem como prop¨®sito entrela ar diferentes vis es sobre o tratamento da tem¨¢tica art¨ªstica ind¨ªgena na contemporaneidade, atrav¨¦s do depoimento de Benilda Verg¨ªlio, ind¨ªgena Kadiw¨¦u, graduada em Design pela Universidade Cat¨®lica Dom Bosco. A an¨¢lise tem como cen¨¢rio as controv¨¦rsias antropol¨®gicas em torno das abordagens simb¨®licas que ao longo do tempo exerceram pleno dom¨ªnio e subjugamento nos estudos sobre arte na ¨®tica antropol¨®gica. Neste estudo, conduzido em forma de entrevista com a artista, ¨¦ enfatizada a a  o cognitiva da arte em contextos nativos, demonstrando que ¨¦ necess¨¢rio discutir a ess¨ºncia e o significado da arte ind¨ªgena, sem deixar de lado o discurso do artista sobre eles. The article aims to interweave the different views on the contemporary Indian art through the testimony of Benilda Verg¨ªlio, Kadiw¨¦u¡¯s Indian, graduated in Design at Dom Bosco Catholic University. The analysis it takes as backdrop the controversies surrounding the anthropological symbolic approaches that over time have had full control and subjugation in the study of art in the anthropological perspective. In this study, conducted by interview with the artist, it was emphasized the cognitive action of art in native context, showing that it is necessary to discuss the essence and meaning of indigenous art, without leaving aside their own speech.
