%X This article presents a brief review of the monetary and exchange rate program of the Banco de la Rep迆blica for 1997; describes its goals and the forms in which the instruments available to it were used; and looks at the most relevant factors in the evolution of the control variables and intermediate goals. The conclusion of this review is that the monetary and exchange rate policy announced by the Board of Directors af the Banco de la Rep迆blica since 1996 has been fully carried out, and that all indications are that at the end of the year the predicted inflation goal will be met. En este art赤culo se hace una breve revisi車n del programa monetario y cambiario del Banco de la Rep迆blica para 1997, describe la metas y la forma en que utiliz車 los instrumentos a su disposici車n y repasa los aspectos m芍s relevantes en la evoluci車n de las variables de control y de las metas intermedias. Como conclusi車n de ese repaso, se concluye que la pol赤tica monetaria y cambiaria anunciada por la Junta Directiva del Banco de la Rep迆blica desde finales de noviembre de 1996 se ha cumplido plenamente y que todo hace pensar que al final de a o se alcanzara la meta de inflaci車n prevista.
