%X This study, with propaedeutic and educational characteristics, in simple language, focuses on historical issues, theoretical and methodological approaches of Cultural Studies, and its relations with the traditional academic disciplines. It focuses, also, in more detail, the conflicts and misunderstandings existing currently between the Literary Theory and Cultural Studies showing that it would be better for the Theory to be allied to Cultural Studies, identifying them as one more possible tool for the study of literature than to reject them and isolate itself in a sterile abstraction. Finally, we discuss the perspectives of Cultural Studies and its insertion in the contemporary world through its commitment to social change and the difference, here in the derridian conception.
