To this end, we did a study on a chapter, in particular, called ¡°Aspectos do ensino da l¨ªngua¡±, from the work Introdu o ao Estudo da Filologia Portugu¨ºsa, 1st edition, 1956, by Serafim da Silva Neto. Our interest is the conception of language teaching that permeates the scientific discourse that circulated in academia in the mid-1950s. This time window was delimited because it precedes the institutionalization of linguistics as a discipline within academia, as well as being a period in which there is not a prestige of the traditional grammatical knowledge. %K Teaching.
