%X RESUMO: Este artigo procura mostrar como, at谷 o s谷culo XVII, as representa  es visuais sobre a Odontologia materializam sua desvaloriza  o em rela  o 角 Medicina representada em A Li  o de Anatomia do Dr. Tulp (1632), de Rembrandt. A fundamenta  o te車rica que norteia essa an芍lise est芍 ancorada em conceitos expressos em Marxismo e filosofia da linguagem. Problemas fundamentais do m谷todo sociol車gico na ci那ncia da linguagem. (BAKHTIN/VOLOCHINOV, 2004), partindo do princ赤pio de que o texto visual, como o verbal, tamb谷m reflete e refrata uma realidade sociohist車rico-cultural, ideol車gica, exterior 角s pinturas. ABSTRACT: This article aims to show how, until the XVIIth century, the visual representations of Dentistry materialize its devaluation in relation to Medicine represented in Rembrandt∩s The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp (1632). The theoretical framework guiding this analysis is anchored in the concepts expressed in Marxism and the Philosophy of Language (VOLO INOV, 1986), assuming that the visual text, as the verbal text, reflects and refracts a sociohistorical-cultural 每 therefore, ideological - reality, exterior to the paintings.
