%X The purpose of this article is to discuss the quality assessment mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of managed care. The clinical indicators and practice guidelines that direct the monitoring process are described on the national and state level. New directions for monitoring managed care as a delivery system for vulnerable populations in terms of quality of services is addressed.
