%X This paper aims to show, on the one hand, how migrations contribute to change both the reality and the understanding of citizenship. They do not only alter recipient societies＊ social and cultural composition, but also the way that their members see themselves as citizens, thereby fostering the reflection on how sound their democratic convictions are. On the other hand, it is argued that citizenship could make migrants＊ human rights a reality by turning them into citizenship＊s rights. To this end, it is necessary to break with the particularistic nature of citizenship in the Nation-State, developing the latter instead in a cosmopolitan direction. Este art赤culo pretende mostrar, por una parte, c車mo las migraciones contribuyen a transformar la realidad y la comprensi車n de la ciudadan赤a. Alteran la composici車n social y cultural de las sociedades receptoras, y la percepci車n de sus miembros sobre su condici車n de ciudadanos e impulsan la reflexi車n sobre la solidez de sus convicciones democr芍ticas. Por otra parte, se sostiene que la ciudadan赤a podr赤a hacer realidad los derechos de los migrantes como seres humanos, convirti谷ndolos en derechos ciudadanos. Para ello es preciso romper el car芍cter particularista de la ciudadan赤a en el estado nacional, orient芍ndola en un sentido cosmopolita.
