%X This paper addresses the main features of the transition from the Long Term Evolution standard (LTE) to its successor Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A). The specifications of the new release have taken several years and included thousands of temporary documents. The output, thus, would be tens of volumes of details. Turning this number of volumes into a single manuscript is a very useful resource for many researchers. One paper of this length must therefore choose its contents wisely if it has to do more than just scratching the surface of such a complex standard.
