%X The present study aims to analyze various cases of innovative behaviour in the third sector which exploit the potential of the new information and communication technologies. The study is divided into several stages. First we list some specific features of innovation in the third sector, which help to understand this innovation in its context. Second, we describe various types of innovation that can be implemented by these sorts of institution and illustrate them with some recent examples. Finally we finish with a series of conclusions and reflections about the need for institutions to plan for innovation at the strategic level and, therefore, focus on it not as something desirable but as a priority. El presente trabajo se plantea analizar diversos casos de comportamientos innovadores en el Tercer Sector en los que se muestra especialmente la potencialidad de las nuevas tecnolog赤as de la informaci車n y de la comunicaci車n. Para este objetivo se han desarrollado una serie de etapas. En un primer t谷rmino se exponen algunos rasgos espec赤ficos de la innovaci車n en el Tercer Sector que ayuden a comprenderla en su contexto. En segundo lugar se proponen diferentes tipos de innovaci車n que son susceptibles de ser desarrollados por este tipo de instituciones ilustr芍ndolos con algunos ejemplos recientes. Por 迆ltimo, finalizamos con una serie de conclusiones y reflexiones sobre la necesidad y la oportunidad de situar en la agenda institucional la innovaci車n a un nivel estrat谷gico, y, por lo tanto, no s車lo como un deseo sino como una prioridad.
