%X ResumoO objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o sistema de cadastro e caracterizar os consumidores de mat¨¦ria-prima florestal do Ceara. O estado est¨¢ localizado na regi o nordeste do Brasil e tem o predom¨ªnio do semi¨¢rido, que compreende 92% do seu territ¨®rio e engloba 117 munic¨ªpios. A matriz energ¨¦tica florestal do estado representa, em media, 32% da fonte de energia consumida. A legisla  o florestal estadual e regida pelo Decreto Estadual no 24.221, de 12 de setembro de 1996, que contempla, dentre os seus objetivos, a manuten  o do cadastro de produtores, comerciantes e consumidores de produtos florestais. Procurando regularizar o consumo de produtos florestais do estado, o Cadastro Estadual de Consumidores de Mat¨¦ria-Prima de Origem Florestal (CECMPOF), ao longo dos anos, alcan ou maior efici¨ºncia, verificando-se consider¨¢vel acr¨¦scimo de empreendimentos cadastrados. Contudo, ainda e grande o numero de empresas irregulares. O CECMPOF e uma ferramenta essencial para avaliar a disponibilidade de fontes legais dispon¨ªveis para o abastecimento de recursos florestais no Ceara. Ap¨®s retifica  o e atualiza  o, chegou-se ao final de 2007, a um quantitativo de 909 consumidores registrados junto ao ¨®rg o. AbstractThis study aims to evaluate the registration system and to characterize the consumer of forest raw material in Ceara. This state is located in northeastern Brazil and it is semiarid predominant region, which comprises 92% of its territory and encompasses 117 municipalities. The forested energy matrix of the state represents an average of 32% of the energy source consumed. The forest legislation in state is governed by State Decree no. 24.221 of September 12, 1996, which includes, among its objectives, the maintenance of the register of producers, traders and consumers of forest products. IN ORDER TO regulate the use of forest products, the State Register of Raw Material Consumers of Forest Origin (CECMPOF), over the years, reached greater efficiency and there is considerable increase of enterprises listed. The CECMPOF is an essential tool to assess the availability of legal sources available for the supply of forest resources in Ceara. After accuracy and update, in the end of 2007, there were an amount of 909 consumers registered with the agency.
