Based on the results of online faculty training courses at five Spanish universities, this article explores the learning by teaching and research personnel (TRP) through the faculty development theory. This theoretical approach emphasises, firstly, the context of ensured university quality and, secondly, offers a theoretical analysis of the ways in which university faculty use curriculum and teaching capacities (CTC) for learning within an online faculty development programme. This analysis centres on the idea that faculty comprehend and respond to quality teaching principles. Finally, this study sheds light on those issues considered to be most important when designing, developing and evaluating training courses via the Internet. %K curriculum and teaching capacities %K development of university faculty %K evaluation of the online development of university faculty %K online education %U http://rusc.uoc.edu/ojs/index.php/rusc/article/view/290
