%0 Journal Article %T ALLOXAN INDUCED DIABETIC RATS %A Alia Mukhtar %J The Professional Medical Journal %D 2000 %I %X A total of 8 mixed-sex albino rats were made diabetic by injecting 5 percent alloxan interperitonially. Ratswere divided into two groups of 4 rats each and fed separately on non-fibrous and 5% wheat bran supplementedfibrous diets for one month. Results revealed that fibre-fed rats gained less weight as compared to non-fibregroup. Serum glucose level decreased 54.5 percent, triglycerides 29.2 percent, cholesterol 16.26 percent inrats on fibrous diet, while non-fibrous group of rats showed non-significant changes.
