Noise level samples were collected from 33 sampling points with the distance of 0 meter and 80 meters from main roads respectively. The highest level of noise on 0 meter was found in West Jakarta (81.53 dBA) and that of 80 meters from the main road was also in West Jakarta (69,64 dBA). The highest difference of the noise levels between the two sampling points was in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta (26.94 %), and the lowest one was in Pakuan, Bogor (0.79 %). In whole areas of Greater Jakarta, the average level of noise was 78.85 dBA (0 meter), and 67.24 dBA (80 meters), so the difference of the noise levels between the two sampling points was 14.72 %. The difference of means of noise levels between the two sampling sites for Jakarta area alone was 14.66 %, it was slightly lower than that of Jakarta's surrounding areas (14.79 %). In general, it can be stated that the noise levels in Jakarta area, both at road side and 80 meters from the roads, was slightly higher than those Jabodetabek and Botabek noise levels. At road sides, only 2 sites (6.06 %) having noise level less than 70 dBA, and in the sites situated 80 meters from the road, only 10 sites (30.30 %) having noise level less than 65 dBA. The difference of the means of the noise levels between the two sampling sites was significant. Controlling the noise levels should be addressed to managing the affecting factors such as repairing road surface condition, making freely flowing traffic, improving driving order including in using mufflers and horns, and construction of noise barrier including planting tress or bushes.
