%X Se destaca, en la historia de la infectolog赤a cubana, la importancia de la fundaci車n del Instituto de Medicina Tropical de la Universidad de La Habana por el doctor Pedro Kour赤 Esmeja (1900-1964) en 1937. Para ello se exponen los inicios de la ense anza superior de la infectolog赤a en Cuba a partir de 1899 y la consolidaci車n de los estudios parasitol車gicos, con la llegada a la jefatura de esa c芍tedra universitaria del doctor Pedro Kour赤 en 1934 y la fundaci車n del Instituto de Medicina Tropical. Para finalizar se hace una breve narraci車n de las investigaciones y la docencia en el campo de la parasitolog赤a m谷dica en el Instituto y la C芍tedra hasta la revitalizaci車n del primero en 1979. In the history of infectology in Cuba, the foundation of the Institute of Tropical Medicine of Havana University by Dr Pedro Kour赤 Esmeja (1900-1964) in 1937 stands out due to its remarkable importance. For supporting this statement, the beginning of infectology teaching at higher education in Cuba in 1899, the consolidation of parasitology studies after Dr Pedro Kour赤 having been appointed as head of Parasitology Department at the university in 1934 and the foundation of the Institute of Tropical Medicine were expounded. Finally, a brief account of the research work and the teaching activity in the field of medical parasitology carried out at the Institute and at the university until the revitalization of the former in 1979.
