%X La histerectom赤a afecta a un 20% de la poblaci車n femenina en Chile; su mayor incidencia es en mujeres f谷rtiles entre los 35-49 a os. Esta cirug赤a, al poner fin a la vida reproductiva de la mujer, amenaza fuertemente su sentido de feminidad, puede provocar una alteraci車n de la autoestima, disfunci車n de la relaci車n de pareja, conflicto con el medio social, entre otros. La presente revisi車n pretende dar a conocer como la histerectom赤a afecta la calidad de vida y sus diferentes dimensiones en las usuarias, con el prop車sito de contribuir al conocimiento del tema y colaborar para un mejor enfrentamiento de estas usuarias. A pesar del impacto de la histerectom赤a en la calidad de vida de estas mujeres, son escasas las investigaciones que estudien dicha relaci車n. Al comparar la calidad de vida entre mujeres sanas y mujeres histerectomizadas, estas tuvieron similares niveles de calidad de vida, en los dominios: funcionamiento f赤sico, dolor corporal, funcionamiento sexual y dimensi車n psicol車gica. La mujer histerectomizada evidencia mejor calidad de vida que la mujer con trastornos ginecol車gicos, en los dominios anteriormente nombrados. Se concluye que la histerectom赤a por s赤 sola, no afecta la calidad de vida de estas mujeres, sin embargo, surge la necesidad de nuevas investigaciones sobre el tema. Al respecto cabe destacar la importancia en el apoyo y educaci車n a la mujer sometida a este proceso quir迆rgico Hysterectomy affects 20% of the feminine Chilean population; its greater incidence is in fertile women between 35 to 49 years. This surgery by stopping the reproductive cycle of the woman, repercussions that strongly threatens her female sense, it can cause alterations of self-esteem, dysfunction of relationships, conflict with her social environment, among others. This bibliographical study intends to show how hysterectomy affects the quality of life and its different dimensions among users, in order to contribute to the knowledge of the subject and to contribute to health professionals with scientific evidence for a better facing. In spite of the impact of the hysterectomy in the quality of life of these women, investigations studying this relation are little. When comparing the quality of life between healthy women and hysterectomyzed ones, these had similar quality levels of life, in the dominions: physical operation, corporal pain, sexual behavior and psychological dimension. The hysterectomyzed woman evidences better quality of life in the previously named dominions than women with gynecological problems. It is concluded that hysterectomy by itself, does
