%X El cirripedio pedunculado Scalpellum projectum Nilsson-Cantell, 1930, fue descrito sobre la base de material bent車nico adosado a un cable telegr芍fico recuperado de aguas profundas frente a Antofagasta (~23∼S). Desde su descripci車n original no existen nuevos reportes para dicha especie a nivel mundial. En recientes prospecciones relacionadas con el estudio de comunidades asociadas a filtraciones de metano se recolectaron seis hembras adultas de S. projectum. Este material procede de tres estaciones ubicadas entre 34∼42' y 36∼22'S, a profundidades de 846 a 922 m. Se entregan datos taxon車micos, basados en la morfolog赤a externa de los ejemplares, cuyos tama os coinciden, en t谷rminos generales, con la descripci車n original. No se encontraron ejemplares machos, los que son de muy reducido tama o, de forma aberrante y viven al interior de los scu-ta en el cap赤tulum de las hembras. Con este segundo hallazgo se extiende, en aproximadamente 17∼ de latitud (1.800 km) hacia el sur su distribuci車n geogr芍fica y en 200 m su distribuci車n batim谷trica, la cual hasta ahora ha sido reportada solamente para el talud continental de Chile. The pedunculate barnacle Scalpellum projectum Nilsson-Cantell, 1930, was described based on benthic material from a telegraph cable recovered from deep waters off Antofagasta (~23∼S). No new records have been reported for this species worldwide since its original description. Six adult females of S. projectum were collected during recent studies of communities associated with methane seeps. The material was taken from three stations located between 34∼42' and 36∼22'S and at depths of 846 to 922 m. We provide taxonomic information based on the external morphology of the specimens, whose sizes coincide in general terms with those of the original description. No male specimens were observed; these are smaller, aberrant in form, and live within the scuta in the capitulum of the females. With this second finding, the distributional range of this species, previously only reported for the slope off Chile, is extended about 17∼ latitude southwards (1,800 km) and its bathymetric range is expanded by 200 m.
