OBJETIVO: revisar a literatura especializada em busca de informa  es que relacionem consci那ncia fonol車gica e dislexia como forma de aprofundar conhecimentos acad那micos e profissionais sobre o tema. CONCLUS ES: n o h芍 consenso na literatura sobre a defini  o de dislexia, bem como se h芍 ou n o fatores associados a ela. Al谷m disso, o d谷ficit de habilidades em consci那ncia fonol車gica apresenta-se como um dos principais indicadores no diagn車stico de dislexia e necessita de interven  es espec赤ficas visando o seu desenvolvimento. BACKGROUND: the relationships between phonological awareness and dyslexia, as well as diagnosis and treatment. PURPOSE: review the specific literature in search of information that relate phonological awareness and dyslexia and as a way to deepen academic and professional knowledge on the subject. CONCLUSION: there is no consensus in the literature about the definition of dyslexia, and whether or not there are factors associated with it. Moreover, the deficit in phonological awareness seems to be a main indicator in the diagnosis of dyslexia, requiring specific interventions for developing skills in phonological awareness.
