%X Aunque la especie marina Fragilaria striatula Lyngbye est芍 ampliamente distribu赤da en aguas del Atl芍ntico Norte y del Artico, es muy poco conocida para las aguas del Pac赤fico Sur Oriental de Chile. Sobre la base de material depositado en la Colecci車n Diatomol車gica de la Universidad de Concepci車n, Chile, se observ車 y fotografi車 las caracter赤sticas morfol車gicas de este taxon en los microscopios fot車nico y electr車nicos. Los espec赤menes estudiados fueron recolectados entre los 20∼13'S y los 53∼39'S, revelando una gran distribuci車n a lo largo de la costa de Chile, especialmente como ep赤fita de algas superiores Although the marine species Fragilaria striatula Lyngbye is widely distributed in the North Atlantic and the Arctic, has rarely been reported from the southeastern Pacific coasts of Chile. Using material deposited at the Diatom Collection of the University of Concepcion, Chile, the morphological features of this taxon were observed and recorded under light and electron microscopes. The specimens studied were collected between 20∼13'S and 53∼39'S, revealing a wide distribution along the Chilean coast, especially as an epiphyte on larger algae
