%X Se exponen las opciones de recuperaci¨®n de informaci¨®n que presenta el Cat¨¢logo Colectivo de Publicaciones Seriadas en Ciencias M¨¦dicas (SeCiMed). Se muestra la importancia del correlacionador como una herramienta poderosa para la localizaci¨®n automatizada de las referencias bibliogr¨¢ficas obtenidas a partir de las b¨²squedas bibliogr¨¢ficas realizadas en la base de datos MEDLINE y en el an¨¢lisis estad¨ªstico de la demanda. Se analizaron los datos registrados en los tres ficheros estad¨ªsticos donde se almacenaron los resultados de las b¨²squedas efectuadas en el cat¨¢logo colectivo durante el per¨ªodo transcurrido entre mayo de 1997 y junio de 1998. Se estudiaron los campos de tem¨¢tica y pa¨ªs. Se analiz¨® la utilizaci¨®n del fondo y de las referencias solicitadas a la Biblioteca M¨¦dica nacional mediante el correlacionador del cat¨¢logo para identificar los t¨ªtulos con mayor demanda y su comportamiento. En el estudio de la distribuci¨®n de t¨ªtulos por tem¨¢ticas, se detectaron algunas carentes de respaldo en cuanto a publicaciones seriadas y al considerar el fondo por pa¨ªs de edici¨®n fue posible hallar los pa¨ªses con mayor representaci¨®n. El correlacionador del cat¨¢logo colectivo es un recurso de importancia estrat¨¦gica para al Sistema Nacional de Informaci¨®n de Ciencias M¨¦dicas. The collective catalogue of serials as an instrument for the analysis of information demands in the National Medical Library of Cuba Information retrieval options of the Collective Catalogue of Serials in Medical Sciences (SECMED) are presented. The paper shows the importance of the correlator as a powerful tool for automated location of references obatained from reference searches carried out in MEDLINE data base an in the statistical analysis of the demand. An analysis was made on data recorded in the 3 statistical files where the results of searches in collective catalogue from may, 1997 and june, 1998 are stored. Subject fields and country were studied. Use of collections and of references requested from the National Mediacal Library by means of the correlator were examined to identify the most requested titles and their behaviour. The study of distribution of titles by subject detected titles lacking support as to serials and it was possible to find the most represneted countries when examining the collections by publishing country. The correlator of the collective catalogue is a resource of strategic importance for the National Information System of Medical Sciences.
