%X This paper aims at analyzing the problem of unemployment and the role of the entrepreneur in reducing the rate of unemployment through innovations. Having reviewed the basic theories of unemployment, the paper explains the role of the entrepreneur as developed by Schumpeter in reducing the rate of unemployment. Not surprisingly, unemployment can be reduced over the course of the business cycle but cannot be eliminated under capitalism, because a low rate of unemployment will increase wages and power of the working people
