%0 Journal Article %T The Critically Endangered Flora and Fauna of District Battagram Pakistan %J Advances in Life Sciences %@ 2163-1395 %D 2012 %I %R 10.5923/j.als.20120204.07 %X Present study was conducted to evaluate the diversity, population status and problems associated with the conservation of flora and fauna of District Battagram of western Himalayan Pakistan. A total of 22 species were reported as Critically Endangered locally including 12 plant and 10 animal species. The data were collected through field observation and from the natives. Major threats to the flora and fauna of the study area are loss of habitat, unplanned collection, deforestation, over grazing, erosion, attack of pathogens, effect of introduced taxa and hunting, shooting and trapping of wild animals. %K Conservation %K Flora %K Fauna %K Major Threats %K Battagram %K Pakistan %U http://article.sapub.org/10.5923.j.als.20120204.07.html
