%X This article demonstrates the remediation of selective mutism (SM) with fluoxetine treatment on a male (9 years 2 months), following unsuccessful behavioral and psychosocial interventions. Although it is premature to consider pharmacological treatment as a more effective treatment than behavioral or other psychotherapeutic modalities for persistent SM, the results from this study are consistent with prior research demonstrating the efficacy of pharmacological intervention, specifically fluoxetine, in the treatment of SM.
