%X in 1963, inspired by bataille, foucault proposes a critical ontology based upon the idea of transgression. this one is neither an attitude nor a behavior, and hence it belongs neither to the field of ethics nor to the one of morals. on the contrary, transgression is an ontological event which takes place on the limits of being. in this event these limits are simultaneously violated, revealed and abolished. twenty years later, after having returned to classical antiquity, foucault proposes a new critical ontology, this time founded upon ethics. in both cases it is a question of thinking about being and limits. however, if the transgression violently disrupts the subject, ethics forms it and protects it.
