%X objetive: to determine the differences with regard to the incident of the principal types of cancer, of agreement to geographical zones of residence of barranquilla's city. materials and methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study. there were studied 311 cases from the registro poblacional de c¨˘ncer de barranquilla, diagnosed during the years 2007 and 2008, studying as independent variable the zone, and as dependent variables the treatment (surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy). results: the type of cancer with major percentage was that of breast (35, 2 %, 51, 3 % and 36, 2 %) in the zones south, center and north. a major percentage of women was in the zone centre (p <0, 05), and major belonging (property) to the contributing regime (diet) in the north zone (p <0, 05); likewise, a major percentage of subjects submitted to surgery in the center zone (p <0, 05). conclusions: differences exist with regard to the zone of residence, as for the types of cancer different from that of breast, surgical treatment. the cancer of major incident was that of breast, and significant differences are observed with regard to the health regime.
