%X this paper analyses the social and cultural influence of slavery in the roman empire. it investigates the frontiers between liberty and slavery in their public and private dimensions. it focuses on the concept of a trajectory of slave lives to set the freed slave in its proper dimension, something between slavery and liberty, a social condition that creates a zone of indetermination that affects society as a whole.
