Several kinds of disinfectants were investigated in this paper for their
ability to inhibit quorum sensing activities in water in distribution system.
Among these disinfectants, free chlorine is the strongest inhibitor for QS
activities and all disinfectants have inhibiting effect on QS activities in
water. The results offered a novel approach for preventing formation of biofilm
in distribution system.
