Seven50 was a regional discussion about the next 50 years of development for seven counties. The project was executed from 2009 through 2014. The principal author of the article was a member of the Seven50 Executive Committee from the start to the end, and participated in the debates about its goals, chronology and professional activities. Research and analysis were performed on the final deliverables of the project. In addition, qualitative interviews were conducted with key participants in March and June of 2015, approximately a year after the project was completed. Their views and opinions provided context for an evaluation of the project’s effectiveness and its impact on future regional growth. First Ladies in Nigeria: The Rise of Amazon Crusaders for Better Life of the Vulnerable  [PDF]
Ngozi N. Iheanacho
Advances in Applied Sociology (AASoci) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/aasoci.2016.63011
Abstract: This paper is a study of the status and operations of Nigerian First Ladies. The rise and boom dates back to 1987, during the tenure of Maryam Babangida—wife of the then president. Subsequent national First Ladies cued into the structure and legacy of the office and extended the phenomenon to state First Ladies. Like Amazons, they have continued to rise in fame, with exotic paraphernalia of office and pet-projects, making Nigeria a bee-hive of First Ladies operation. Through ethnographic and phenomenological method of knowledge inquiry and presentation in qualitative analysis the report is replete with reasons for the boom—the major being the people’s cosmology of woman and motherhood and, the onerous desire of women to adequately cue into the global project of gender balance in advancement. In spite of the marginal status of the office in the body polity of the nation, First Ladies have contributed significantly to human development index of the target group and, provided strategic platform for women mobilization and consciousness in public affairs.
Selecting a Component with Longer Mean Life Time in Bivariate Pareto Models  [PDF]
Parameshwar V. Pandit, Shubhashree Joshi
Open Journal of Statistics (OJS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojs.2015.55037
Abstract: In any parallel system, selecting a component with longer mean lifetime is of interest to the researchers. Hanagal (1997) [1] discussed selection procedures for a two-component system with bivariate exponential (BVE) models. In this paper, the problem of selecting a better component with reference to its mean life time under bivariate Pareto (BVP) models is considered. Three selection procedures based on sample proportions, sample means and maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) are proposed. The probability of correct selection for the proposed procedures is evaluated through Monte Carlo simulation using normal approximation. The asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) of the proposed procedures is presented to facilitate the evaluation of the performance of procedures.
Integrity or Compliance Based Ethics: Which Is Better for Today’s Business?  [PDF]
Bruce H. Geddes
Open Journal of Business and Management (OJBM) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ojbm.2017.53036
Abstract: A firm and a rigorous ethics program are essential in business today. Consumers demand that the companies that they do business with be ethical. Compliance and integrity based ethics programs are the leading pragmatic approaches to ethics used in today’s business environment. Reviewing each of these programs individually and then comparing and contrasting them and finally evaluating them as a synthesized program is a useful form of analysis. By separating, then comparing and subsequently integrating the best of both methods leads to the determination that firms must be able to synthesize the two theories and apply them to their business.

La canalización del dolor y el estancamiento del sufrimiento en Schopenhauer y De quincey
Baquedano Jer,Sandra;
Discusiones Filosóficas , 2011,
Abstract: in this paper, i shall explore the channeling of pain and the blockage of suffering in the thoughts of schopenhauer and de quincey respectively. in the case of the english writer, i shall show that his view is opposite in ethical terms to the existential outcome both of the better conscience and of the denial of the will to live, since while the pleasures of the opium flow after dreams that are transformed into terrible sufferings, the pain, in schopenhauer, is sublimated until it is transformed in the of his ethics.

?Fuga de cerebros o "doble movilidad"?: Un análisis de las implicaciones de la migración de estudiantes marroquíes hacia Francia y su inserción profesional en Marruecos
Gérard, Etienne;
Revista de la educación superior , 2008,
Abstract: if a "brain drain" exists perhaps it means that knowledge is not valued enough within the country that suffers it. several reasons may exist, one of them can be because the labour market does not have good offers or recommends minor employments opposite to which they are given abroad, or domestic universities are not so credited like the ones elsewhere. so, to study the movement of the studies that europe offers for the inhabitants of the south of the mediterranean is an interesting process to observe. in this paper, we will study the case of the moroccan young men who go to france in pursuit of a better education to return to their country with a better experience as to have a better future.
