The Effect of Dorsal Hippocampal α2-Adrenegic Receptors on WIN55,212-2 State-Dependent Memory of Passive Avoidance

Abstract: Background and Objectives: Cannabinoids are a class of psychoactive compounds that produce a wide array of effects in a large number of species. In the present study, the effects of bilateral intra-CA1 injections of an α2-adrenergic receptor agents, on WIN55,212-2 state-dependent learning were examined in adult male Wistar rats. Methods: The animals were bilaterally implanted with chronic cannulae in the CA1 regions of the dorsal hippocampus, trained in a step-down type inhibitory avoidance task, and tested 24h after training to measure step-down latency. Results: Post-training intra-CA1 injection of WIN55,212-2 (0.25 and 0.5μg/rat) induced impairment of memory retention. Amnesia produced by post-training WIN55,212-2 (0.5μg/rat) was reversed by pre-test administration of the same dose of WIN55,212-2 that is due to a state-dependent effect. Pre-test intra-CA1 injection of clonidine (0.5 and 0.75μg/rat, intra-CA1) improved post-training WIN55,212-2 (0.5μg/rat, intra-CA1)-induced retrieval impairment, while pre-test intra-CA1 injection of yohimbine (1μg/rat, intra-CA1) 2min before the administration of WIN55,212-2 (0.5μg/rat, intra-CA1) inhibited WIN55,212-2 state-dependent memory. Conclusion: These results suggest that α2-adrenergic receptors of the dorsal hippocampal CA1 regions may play an important role in Win55,212-2-induced amnesia and WIN55,212-2 state-dependent memory
Interaction between Cannabinoidergic System and H2 Receptors in CA1 Region upon Anxiety-like Behaviors in Hole-Board Test

Abstract: Background and Objectives: Cannabinoids produce a wide array of effects on different species and interact with different neurotransmitter systems in the brain. In the present study, the effects of histaminergic and cannabinoidregic systems as well as their interactions on anxiety-related behaviors were examined on mice.Methods: In this study, at first mice were anesthetized with intra-peritoneal injection of ketamine hydrochloride and xylazine. They were then placed in a stereotaxic apparatus. Two stainless-steel cannuale were placed one mm above CA1 regions of the dorsal hippocampus. After that, seventeen groups of animals were tested with hole board apparatus for measuring anxiety behavior. For the statistical analysis, One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Dunnett's test were used.Results: Intra-CA1 injection of WIN55,212-2 (0.1, 0.5μg/mice) did not modify anxiety-related behaviors in mice. But administration of AM251 (25 and 50ng/mice), histamine or ranitidine (5μg/mice) induced anxiogenic-like response. Also, co-administration of WIN55, 212-2 with histaminergic agents, decreased the anxiogenic-like response of histamine, but not that of ranitidine. Co-administration of an ineffective dose of AM251 with histaminergic drugs did not alter the response induced by these drugs. In all the experiments, locomotor activity was not significantly changed. Conclusion: These results showed that there may be a partial interaction between the cannabinoidergic and the histaminergic systems of the dorsal hippocampus on anxiety-like behaviors.
The Effect of L-arginine in the Ventral Tegmenta Area on the Improving Effect of Nicotine on Memory

Abstract: Background and Objectives: Nitric oxide synthesis has been detected in ventral tegmental area, which is a key brain region that seems to mediate behavioral effect of morphine and nicotine. In the present study, the effects of L-arginine, a nitric oxide precursor, in the ventral tegmental area in nicotine’s effect on morphine-induced amnesia has been investigated.Methods: This study was done experimentally on 250 male rats. Rats were anesthetized with intra-peritoneal injection of ketamine hydrochloride, plus xylazine and then placed in a stereotaxic apparatus. Two stainless-steel cannuale were placed in the ventral tegmental area. The behavioral testing was started in inhibitory avoidance task, and the step-through latency for entering into the dark compartment was measured for the assessment of memory retention. One-side analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey test were used to evaluate the statistical significance between experimental groups. A difference of p<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results: Post-training injection of morphine (5 and 7.5mg/kg) decreased the memory retrieval. Injection of nicotine or L-arginine before test by itself has no effect on memory retrieval. On the other hand, pre-test administration of morphine (7.5mg/kg), nicotine (0.5 and 1mg/kg), L-arginine or ineffective doses of L-arginine plus non-effective dose of nicotine restored memory impairment induced by post-training injection of morphine.Conclusion: The finding of the study indicate that nitric oxide system of the ventral tegmental area may play an important role in the improving effect of nicotine on the morphine-induced amnesia.

The ethical landscape of professional care in everyday practice as perceived by staff: A qualitative content analysis of ethical diaries written by staff in child and adolescent psychiatric in-patient care

Abstract: Background Although there has been some empirical research on ethics concerning the attitudes and approaches of staff in relation to adult patients, there is very little to be found on child and adolescent psychiatric care. In most cases researchers have defined which issues are important, for instance, coercive care. The aim of this study was to provide a qualitative description of situations and experiences that gave rise to ethical problems and considerations as reported by staff members on child and adolescent psychiatric wards, although they were not provided with a definition of the concept. Methods The study took place in six child and adolescent psychiatric wards in Sweden. All staff members involved with patients on these wards were invited to participate. The staff members were asked to keep an ethical diary over the course of one week, and data collection comprised the diaries handed in by 68 persons. Qualitative content analysis was used in order to analyse the diaries. Results In the analysis three themes emerged; 1) good care 2) loyalty and 3) powerlessness. The theme ‘good care’ contains statements about the ideal of commitment but also about problems living up to the ideal. Staff members emphasized the importance of involving patients and parents in the care, but also of the need for professional distance. Participants seldom perceived decisions about coercive measures as problematic, in contrast to those about pressure and restrictions, especially in the case of patients admitted for voluntary care. The theme ‘loyalty’ contains statements in which staff members perceived contradictory expectations from different interested parties, mainly parents but also their supervisor, doctors, colleagues and the social services. The theme ‘powerlessness’ contains statements about situations that create frustration, in which freedom of action is perceived as limited and can concern inadequacy in relation to patients and violations in the workplace. Conclusions The ethical considerations described by child and adolescent psychiatric care staff are multifaceted and remarkably often concern problems of loyalty and organization. These problems frequently had a considerable influence on the care provided. It seems that staff members lack a language of ethics and require both an ethical education and a forum for discussion of ethical issues.
Corporate communications impact on corporate image and corporate competitiveness

Abstract: The subject of this paper is an analysis of the impact of corporate communications and of the intensity of their application on a company’s image management, and an emphasis of the role that a company’s image plays as one of the fundamental sources of its competitiveness in contemporary market conditions. Through review and analysis of theoretical contributions, the paper shows how corporate communications integrate management, organization and the marketing communication dimension at the level of the company and how, by adequate intensity of their application and an adequate degree of integration, they may have an impact on the company’s image management. The need to understand the concept of company image as a significant source of competitiveness is also stressed. For that purpose, the work includes comprehensive research of the impact of the intensity of corporate communications on the company’s image on the market of the Republic of Croatia while also researching the impact of the company’s positive image on its competitiveness. The methodology used in this work comprised a public opinion poll, carried out on a convenient sample of persons. Gathered data were analyzed using multiple regression and correlation analysis methods. Research results confirmed the impact of the intensity of corporate communications on the company’s image as well as the statement that the company’s positive image contributes to increasing its competitiveness. In that sense, it is possible to attribute to corporate communications a strategically important role for the company’s business operations within the framework of newly emerging market conditions.
Removal of Cyanide from Aquatic Solution by Using of Iron and Copper Powder: Equilibrium and Kinetic Study

Abstract: Background and Objectives: Industrial wastewater included the cyanide is one of the important sources of environmental pollution which founded in Industrial wastewater which are harmful for human health and environment. Therefore, the purpose of this research that was fundamental designed is investigation of Removal of cyanide from aquatic solution by using of iron and copper powder in experimental scale.Material and Methods: At first, pilot was designed. Then, acquired pH optimum equal to 2,7 for copper and iron by variation pH= (2,4,6,8,12) and constant other parameters. The effect of initial cyanide concentration (40,60,80 mg/l), initial iron and copper dosage (0.08-1 g/100CC) and contact time (15-12 min) studied at the constant of optimum pH.Results: The result showed removal efficiency Increased from 46.6% to 90.56% and 31% to 93.78% for copper and iron by increasing of contact time from 15to 120 minute in constant conditions, respectively. Also result showed Removal efficiency decreased and increased by increasing initial cyanide concentration and initial iron and copper dosage. The results showed equilibrium data were explained acceptably by Langmuir isotherms and kinetic parameters were obtained by application of Langmuir&Hinshelwood equation.Conclusion: The results showed that removal of cyanide can be quick and effective done by iron and copper in experimental scale.
The Effects of a Single Session of Combined Aerobic and Resistance Exercise on Leptin Levels and Insulin Resistance Index in Sedentary Men

Abstract: Background and Objectives: Physical activity energy expenditure may mediate the relationship between plasma leptin levels and worsening insulin resistance independent of adiposity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a single session of combined exercise on leptin levels and insulin resistance index in sedentary men.Methods: Ten male subjects (22.9±1.7 years) and BMI (23±1.7kg.m-2) performed a single session of combined exercise including aerobic exercise: 60-70% of their maximal oxygen consumption for 20 min, and resistance exercise: 2 sets of 10 repetitions at 70% of 1 repetition in maximum. Leptin, glucose, insulin and insulin resistance indexes were measured before and 24 h after an exercise.Results: There were significant differences for leptin (ng.ml-1) [pre, 4.97(1.44); post, 3.84(0.83)], and insulin resistance index [pre, 1.25(0.33); post, 1.02(0.16)] (p<0.05). But glucose (mmol.l-1) [pre, 4.4(0.42); post, 4.25(0.4)], and insulin concentration (UΙμ.ml-1) [pre, 5.8(0.74); post, 5.39(0.48)] had significantly no changes after 24 h post-exercise. Conclusion: This study has suggested a single session of combined exercise along with a significant change of the leptin levels can affect positively on insulin resistance index.
Shoot organogenesis in oleaster (Elaeagnus angustifolia L.)

Abstract: Efficient plant regeneration through organogenesis was achieved from callus cultures derived from leaf explants of Elaeagnus angustifolia. Calli were obtained on MS medai containing 3% sucrose and different concentrations of TDZ (0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 mg/l). Maximum percentage response for callus formation was 85% on MS medium supplemented with 2 mg/l of TDZ. Shoot organogenesis was achieved after transfer of calli to MS media with 3% sucrose and different concentrations of BA (0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 mg/l) and kinetin (0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 mg/l). Maximum organogenesis was obtained with 2 mg/l of BA. Rooting of the shoots was achieved on MS supplemented with 0.2 mg/l of IBA. Regenerated plantlets were acclimatized and successfully transplanted to soil.

Abstract: The fetal biophysical profile score (BPS or BPP) re-fers to the sonographic assessment of four discrete biophysical variables:Fetal movementFetal toneFetal breathingAmniotic fluid volumeResult of nonstress testingEach of these five parameters is given a score of 0 or 2 points. Presence of these biophysical variables implies absence of significant central nervous system hypoxemia/acidemia at the time of testing. By comparison, a compromised fetus typically exhibits loss of acceleration of fetal heart rate, decreased body movement and breathing, hypotonia and less acutely, decreased amniotic fluid volume. Sonographic detection of signs of fetal compromise can allow appropriate intervention that will ideally prevent adverse fetal squeal.
