Barata, Ricardo Andrade;Serra e Meira, Paula Cavalcante Lamy;Carvalho, Gustavo Mayr de Lima;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762012000800007
Abstract: a new species of brazilian phlebotomine sandfly found in brazil, municipality of diamantina, state of minas gerais, is described based on males and females collected in a quartzite cave. the body of spermathecae is continuous to the individual duct, lanky and tapering at the end, with conical shaped, not striated and presenting the head with dense setae. the male presents gonostyle with four spines and a small subterminal seta and gonocoxite with one group of persistent setae. the paramere is simple with a group of small setae on the dorsal apex. the morphological features of this new species permit its inclusion in the migonei group.
Description of Lutzomyia velezi, a new species of phlebotomine sand fly (Diptera: Psychodidae) from the Department of Antioquia, Colombia
Bejarano, Eduar Elías;Vivero, Rafael José;Uribe, Sandra;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762010000300014
Abstract: the phlebotomine sand fly lutzomyia velezi sp.nov. was described and illustrated from male specimens collected by light trap in the reserva natural ca?on del río claro in the central cordillera of the colombian andes. the new species belongs to the series sanguinaria of the subgenus helcocyrtomyia, which is represented in colombia by lutzomyia cirrita, lutzomyia hartmanni, lutzomyia sanguinaria, lutzomyia scorzai, lutzomyia sp. of pichindé and lutzomyia tortura. the new species can be differentiated from others of the subgenus by the combination of the following characteristics: long antennal ascoids, reaching level of the papilla, coxite with a single basal seta and fifth palpomere longer than or equal to the sum of the lengths of the third and fourth palpomeres.
Description of Lutzomyia (Helcocyrtomyia) herreri sp. nov. (Diptera, Psychodidae, Phlebotominae) from the South Peruvian Andes
Galati, Eunice A. Bianchi;Cáceres, Abraham G.;
Revista Brasileira de Entomologia , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0085-56262003000400012
Abstract: a new species of phlebotomine, lutzomyia (helcocyrtomyia) herreri sp. nov., belonging to the series osornoi, from the department of puno, peru, is described. identification keys for both sexes of the species of this series are presented.
Description of Lutzomyia (Lutzomyia) falquetoi sp. nov. (Diptera: Psychodidae, Phlebotominae) a new species from the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil
Pinto, Israel de Souza;Santos, Claudiney Biral dos;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762007005000006
Abstract: lutzomyia (lutzomyia) falquetoi, sp. nov. (diptera: psychodidae, phlebotominae) is described from the state of espírito santo, brazil. this new species belongs to the series longipalpis and is easily distinguished from the other members of this taxon by the presence of five well-developed spines and a pre-apical spiniform bristle on the gonostyle as well as nine bristles on the basal tuft of the gonocoxite.
Description of Micropygomyia (Micropygomyia) ancashensis sp. nov. and the female of Lutzomyia (Helcocyrtomyia) chavinensis Pérez & Ogusuku (Diptera, Psychodidae, Phlebotominae) from Ancash department, Peru
Galati, Eunice A Bianchi;Cáceres, Abraham G;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762007005000091
Abstract: a male of a new species micropygomyia (micropygomyia) ancashensis sp. nov. and a female of the lutzomyia (helcocyrtomyia) chavinensis pérez & ogusuku, 1999 captured in the antonio raymondi province, department of ancash, peru are described and illustrated. the new species belongs to the cayennensis series, being closest to mi. lewisi (feliciangeli ordo?ez & férnandez) though presenting highly sclerotized pseudotracheae on the labella that seem to constitute an autapomorphy among american phlebotominae, and a clypeus almost completely covered with setae, as in warileya. the female of lu. chavinensis is close to those of lu. blancasi galati & cáceres 1990, lu. noguchii (shannon, 1929), and lu. pallidithorax galati & cáceres 1994.
Two New Species of the Genus Dictyota (Phaeophyceae: Dictyotales) from the Mexican Caribbean  [PDF]
Jorge G. Lozano-Orozco, Abel Sentíes, Olivier De Clerck, Kurt M. Dreckmann, Jhoana Díaz-Larrea
American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2015.615251
Abstract: During a molecular characterization of the genus Dictyota J. V. Lamouroux (Phaeophyceae, Dictyotales) along the Mexican coasts of the Gulf of Mexico and the Mexican Caribbean, using psbA and cox1 genes, it was found that two particular collections did not match with the sequences published for a total of 39 species of Dictyota. For each gene, both collections diverged in high-uncorrected “p” distance values with respect to other related species. This high genetic divergence was corroborated by morphological analysis. Hence, we proposed Dictyota mayae J. Lozano-Orozco & Sentíes and Dictyota pedrochei J. Lozano-Orozco & Sentíes as new species.
Ancyrocephalidae (Monogenea) of Lake Tanganyika: I: Four new species of Cichlidogyrus from Ophthalmotilapia ventralis (Teleostei: Cichlidae), the first record of this parasite family in the basin
Vanhove, Maarten P. M.;Volckaert, Filip A. M.;Pariselle, Antoine;
Zoologia (Curitiba) , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-46702011000200016
Abstract: examination of gill parasites from ophthalmotilapia ventralis (boulenger, 1898) in lake tanganyika (africa) revealed the presence of four new species of monogenea, all members of cichlidogyrus paperna, 1960 (ancyrocephalidae). in view of the systematic importance of haptoral structure, the fish host shows a remarkable diversity of morphological groups. cichlidogyrus vandekerkhovei sp. nov. and c. makasai sp. nov. are especially characterized by the unusual length of the dorsal transverse bar auricles, while c. sturmbaueri sp. nov. is distinguished by the unique shape of the accessory piece of its male copulatory organ. importantly, c. centesimus sp. nov. displays a number of features new to the genus, namely a spirally coiled thickening at the end of the penis, the absence of an accessory piece in the genital apparatus, and a hitherto unknown uncinuli configuration in the haptor. this is the first record of ancyrocephalid parasites from the tanganyika basin. some mechanisms possibly contributing to this yet unknown diversity are discussed, identifying topics deserving further scientific scrutiny.
Una nueva especie de Batrachyla (Anura: Leptodactylidae: Telmatobiinae) de Argentina. Relaciones filogenéticas interespecíficas
Basso, Néstor Guillermo
Cuadernos de Herpetología , 1994,
Abstract: A new species of telmatobiinae leptodactylid frog genus Batrachyla is described from the Nothofagus forest of Chubut province, Southern Argentina. Batrachyla fitzroya sp. nov. is more closely related to B. antartandica than to any other species of the genus. A cladistic analysis of the genus Batrachyla applying parsimony is presented using morphological and osteological characters. Polarity was based on the outgroup comparison method. The data were analysed using Farris's phylogenetic program Hennig86, using the implicit enumeration option. In the preferred phylogeny B. taeniata is the sister species of the clade B. leptopus-(B. antartandica-B. fitzroya).
