Suma Psicológica , 2011,
Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the burnout syndrome in health workers duringa contingency in Mexico City because of epidemiology AH1N1 influenza, andidentify if the use of coping strategies had protective effects for the burnout. Wehad a sample of 477 health workers and was performed a transversal descriptivestudy with a nonrandom quote sample. The instruments used were MaslachBurnout Inventory Human Services version and scale measuring coping face toextreme risks. It was performed a frequency and normality distribution to analyzethe differences, and also an analysis of variance in burnout, and multiple linealregression for coping strategies. We found that 24% had burnout (in emotionalexhaustion and a moderate degree depersonalization, with the presence of personalaccomplishment). They were also employed active and passive strategies. We found that the use of coping strategies was selective, active strategies had amoderating role to burnout and protective to the scale of emotional exhaustion, which seems to increase when there is personal realization. We propose the developmentof quantitative and qualitative research and the use of mixed models ofintervention: focusing on people.
Structural relations between coping strategies and Burnout syndrome on health workers: A study of external and construct validity

Universitas Psychologica , 2012,
Abstract: The aim of this study was to validate hypothesized structural and functional relationships between coping strategies and factors associated with burnout syndrome in independent samples of health workers from different hospitals and hospital care settings. We applied the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the scale of Coping with Extreme Risks adapted to the Mexican population, we analyzed the responses of 354 health workers in a tertiary hospital and 300 from a reference hospital. The samples were intentional, non-probability, quota. The group was formed by nurses, paramedics, diagnostics services, physicians and resident physicians. Results confirmed the factor structure of the instruments in the twosamples and showed that the use of active coping strategies (control, information seeking, social support, among others) has protective effects on the factors associated withthe syndrome (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal fulfillment at work), regardless of the sample, context and type of hospital care. We discuss the results andtheir implications in relation to external validity and findings in other related research.

Abstract: objective: to assess quality of the relationship between inpatients and health providers. methods: a qualitative study was carried out in a tertiary care hospital in the mexico city, mexico, between february and july 2005. in-depth interviews were conducted with 40 inpatients. the following categories of analysis were used to explore the respondent's perception of care: attitudes and actions of medical and nursing providers, effective communication, level of knowledge of patients and their family on the diagnosis, clinical treatment, and evolution. results: overall the level of satisfaction with health care was high. inpatients perceived everyday (non-clinical) interactions with medical and nursing providers as inadequate due to lack of confidence to request information on their condition. in addition, this perception was reinforced by excessive use by providers of technical terminology. conclusions: the routine relationship between health providers and their patients is perceived as inadequate showing that clinical effectiveness does not mean high quality of care. there is a need to bring together technical-scientific efficiency and patients' needs and expectations of non-clinical interactions.
Prevalence of cigarette smoking among employees of the Mexican National Institutes of Health

Salud Pública de México , 1999,
Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of cigarette smoking at the National Institutes of Health in Mexico (NIHM). MATERIAL AND METHODS: A survey was performed among workers who voluntarily answered a questionnaire. Smokers were identified with two specific questions, and type of employment was classified as physicians, administrative staff, investigators and support personnel. RESULTS: Total prevalence smoking was 28% (of 4 422 answered questionnaires). It was significantly higher among females, among administrative staff, and common-law and separated workers. It was significantly higher at the Mexican Institute of Psychiatry than at the remaining Institutes, even after adjusting for confounding. The prevalence was also higher among physicians from the same Institute. Of the smokers, 46% do so in their work areas and 78% of them would like to quit. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of smokers at the NIHM is as high as in the general population and a broad educational program for tobacco control and prevention is needed.

The Biological Pigments in Plants Physiology  [PDF]
Arturo Solís Herrera
Agricultural Sciences (AS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/as.2015.610121
Abstract: The physiology of the plants has come to be a formidable challenge. Despite best efforts, the mysteries remain, most of the processes identified cannot be played in vitro, and to date it cannot be said that knowledge about the complex biochemical processes of the plant is understood properly. The need to produce food is an emergency in the world, so any knowledge that will allow us to advance in this sense is important. Our discovery about the intrinsic property of melanin transform light energy into chemical energy by means of the dissociation of the molecule of water, such as chlorophyll in plants, represents a turning point in relation to the chemical reaction so far considered the most important in the world: photosynthesis.
Higher \A-genera on certain non-spin $S^1$-manifolds

Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: We prove the vanishing of higher A-hat-genera, in the sense of Browder and Hsiang, on smooth manifolds with effective circle actions and with finite second and fourth homotopy groups
Complex contact manifolds and circle actions
Haydee Herrera,Rafael Herrera
Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: We prove rigidity and vanishing theorems for several holomorphic Euler characteristics on complex contact manifolds admitting holomorphic circle actions preserving the contact structure. Such vanishings are reminiscent of those of LeBrun and Salamon on Fano contact manifolds but under a symmetry assumption instead of a curvature condition.
Integración de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación para la ense?anza de la lengua
Herrera,Yudi;
Folios , 2007,
Abstract: this article presents a review of the integration of ict in language teaching. this text is structured into three sections which promote the educational use of new technologies as cognitive tools, in other words expand the functions of cognitive tools, enhance and reorganize the capabilities of students not as a mere container or transmitter of information. in addition, this article presents an analysis of educational software from the pedagogical approach, focusing on those that promote reflexive learning. finally, three proposals are discussed for the integrating of ict for teaching languages through simulators, webquest and wikis.
