Intersecciones en antropolog?-a , 2012,
Abstract: the archaeological record of the north coast of santa cruz (argentine patagonia) is characterized by the presence of large quantities of accumulations of mollusc shells from anthropogenic sources, commonly known as shellmiddens. these have been interpreted as evidence of intense occupation by human populations during the middle and, mainly, late holocene. previous studies have analyzed the variability of surface shellmiddens in the study area. in this paper we analyze the structural characteristics of seven archaeomalacological accumulations excavated in three archaeological localities in different areas of this vast coastline. using geoarchaeological variables and the study of malacological remains we discuss the formation processes and postdepositacional alterations of these deposits in order to advance the discussion of the exploitation, consumption and disposal of shellfish by patagonian populations in the past.

In this paper we have proposed three main objectives: rst, to inform the presence of Lestodelphys halli (Thomas 1921) in a site in the archaeological locality of Punta Medanosa, Santa Cruz province (Argentina). Second, to make a brief characterization of the biology, distribution, etc. of this taxon, and a description of osteological characters of interest for archaeological context. Physical Review Special Topics. Physics Education Research , 2010,
Abstract: We examine the pedagogical suitability of introducing a teaching sequence for the concept of electrical capacitance within the context of charging a body. This short sequence targets first year university students and was designed following students’ common conceptions on this topic. The evaluation is made by comparing the results with a control group using written questionnaires. The results show that the elements within the sequence help students to establish a connection between the movement of charges (microframe) and the energetic analysis of the system (macroframe).
The scientific role of hypotheses and the reasoning of college students in physics problem solving

Investiga??es em Ensino de Ciências , 2003,
Abstract: This paper attempts to explore how freshmen college students in engineering state hypoteses to build their own problem solving structure when dealing with physics problems. From the constructivist perspective of the teaching and learning process hypotheses stating plays a fundamental role to check the coherence of students' ideas against the theoretical framework. The main instruments to accede to students' reasoning were their written solutions to four problematic situations in which they were asked to state hypotheses. The protocols were analysed according to a standard methodology. In this paper two of such problematic situations and the corresponding cathegorization schemes are presented in addition to reseach findings and conclusions.

Abstract: in this paper the value of mussels in the hunter-gatherer diet of the northern coast of santa cruz in the late holocene is discussed through the alimentary potential inferred from the archaeological record. as such, the archaeological image constructed from previous analyses is discussed in light of new results obtained from the analysis of the mussel remains. the density of mussel shell reflects the relative dietary importance of this resource. in relation to that idea we considered the variability of species represented archaeologically, the presence of which presumably represents the result of human decisions taken in relation to food consumption. given that it is impossible to establish absolute values for the total calorific contribution of each site relative percentages are used to approximate the differential contribution of these mollusks to the indigenous diet. this exploratory and experimental method is a simple and operative analytical tool that enables an initial response, partial to the questions raised, as well as to discuss some conclusions previously passed over.
Historical problems and learning difficulties in the Newtonian interpretation of supposedly elementary electrostatic phynomena

Investiga??es em Ensino de Ciências , 1998,
Abstract: This paper starts with a a brief historical review of electrostatics. Then, the use of this historical knowledge is proposed in order to analyse students’ difficulties in learning this theory. This is done using proofs and empirical designs, employed mainly in the historical evolution, which are known as “natural” phenomena or facts, and examining what explanations are given by the students to these facts. Research findings seem to suggest that most of students’ interpretations of electrostatics phenomena present ideas about the electrical nature of matter that differ from the Newtonian theory and remind us of pre-Newtonian explicative models.
Research based teaching sequence for enhancing electrical capacitance understanding at first fist year of university

Investiga??es em Ensino de Ciências , 2011,
Abstract: In the electricity curriculum for introductory university physics courses and final secondary school courses, no provision is normally made for a teaching sequence which analyses the transition of specific charges to charged bodies, thus preventing the construction of a model able to explain the aspects connected with the process of charging a body, accumulating the charge and its relation to the potential acquired. This constituted a relevant historical problem and demanded the introduction of a new concept, that of electrical capacitance, to solve it. The aim of the work presented here is to design and assess a teaching sequence which endeavours to overcome the difficulties in learning found in the bibliography. The structure of the sequence was established in activities following a “problematised structure” design. The problems defining the sequence appeared when a step-by-step analysis of the transfer of charges from one body to another was made, by establishing connections between the movement of charges (microscopic level). The results of implementing the sequence indicate that a considerable number of students have achieved a more satisfactory understanding of the electrical capacitance of bodies and charging processes. This seems to confirm that the aspects highlighted in the sequence are relevant to the objectives specified.

In this paper the value of mussels in the hunter-gatherer diet of the northern coast of Santa Cruz in the Late Holocene is discussed through the alimentary potential inferred from the archaeological record.
