Thermal Stability of CoFe/Cu/CoFe/IrMn Top Spin Valve

Abstract: We present a study of thermal stability of the top spin valve with a structure of seed Ta (5nm)/Co75Fe25 (5nm)/Cu (2.5nm)/Co75Fe25 (5nm)/Ir20Mn80 (12nm)/cap Ta (8nm) deposited at room temperature by magnetron sputtering. A vibrating sample magnetometer fixed with a heater was used to record the magnetic hysteresis loops at variational temperatures and x-ray diffraction was performed to characterize the structure of the multilayer. The exchange field Hex and the coercivity of the pinned CoFe layer Hcp decrease monotonically with increasing temperature. The coercivity of the free CoFe layer Hcf in the spin valve shows a maximum at 498K. The temperature dependences of Hex, Hcp and Hcf have also been discussed.

Abstract: AIM: To evaluate the effect of suspended moxibustion (SM) on rectal sensory thresholds and to analyze the possible mechanisms involved in SM treatment of chronic visceral hypersensitivity (CVH) in rats.METHODS: SM was administered once daily to 37-d-old CVH rats for 7 d. The two pairs of acupoints (ST25 and ST37, bilateral) were simultaneously treated with SM. Each treatment lasted for 30 min. Rats undergoing treatment with SM were not anesthetized. Untreated CVH rats and normal rats were used as controls. The abdominal withdrawal reflex was determined 30-90 min after the seven treatments. The hypothalamic corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) mRNA level was measured using real-time quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS: We found that SM treatment significantly decreased visceral sensitivity to colorectal distention in this rat model. In treated animals, SM also decreased the relative hypothalamic CRH mRNA expression level to control levels.CONCLUSION: Lower hypothalamic CRH levels may mediate the beneficial effects of SM in this rat irritable bowel syndrome model.

Arguing that she is a lonely fighter against nothingness, this essay is dedicated to Winnie and focuses itself on answering following questions: Since the world in Happy Days is surrounded and incessantly eroded by nothingness, what forms are they in and how do they work.; as an extremely deprived person, why could Winnie be called nothingness-fighter and in what ways does she succeed in struggling along. Abstract: This paper reports that a CoFe/IrMn bilayer was deposited by high vacuum magnetron sputtering on silicon wafer substrate; the thermal relaxation of the CoFe/IrMn bilayer is investigated by means of holding the film in a negative saturation field at various temperatures. The exchange bias decreases with increasing period of time while holding the film in a negative saturation field at a given temperature. Increasing the temperature accelerates the decrease of exchange field. The results can be explained by the quantitative model of the nucleation and growth of antiferromagnetic domains suggested by Xi H W et al. 2007 Phys. Rev. B 75 014434], and it is believed that two energy barriers exist in the investigated temperature range.
Slide Behavior of New Type Orthodontic Wire in Saliva

Abstract: Reciprocating slide behavior of new type orthodontic materials 13Cr24Mn0.44N stainless steel lubricated by water and saliva under small amplitude was studied. The wear mechanism was also investigated by SEM, EDS and XPS. Results show that the friction coefficient reduced due to the forming of soft surface film which was easy to shear in the saliva, and the remained debris in worn scar lubricated by water and saliva played the role of the ball which is similar to the ball bearing. The depth of worn scar increased with the load increasing in two medium, but negative interactive phenomenon appeared between wear and corrosion, the depth of worn scar in the saliva was less than that in the water. The worn scar appeared mild plough with distinct slot in the friction process in water. When the friction load was small, the worn scar looked alike whether lubricated in the saliva or in the water, and the wear mechanism was also mild plough with distinct slot, however it changed into fatigue flake with slight cut when the load was larger.
Thermally activated magnetization reversal in magnetic tunnel junctions

Abstract: In this paper, the magnetization reversal of the ferromagnetic layers in the IrMn/CoFe/AlOx/CoFe magnetic tunnel junction has been investigated using bulk magnetometry. The films exhibit very complex magnetization processes and reversal mechanism. Thermal activation phenomena such as the training effect, the asymmetry of reversal, the loop broadening and the decrease of exchange field while holding the film at negative saturation have been observed on the hysteresis loops of the pinned ferromagnetic layer while not on those of the free ferromagnetic layer. The thermal activation phenomena observed can be explained by the model of two energy barrier distributions with different time constants.
Capability of Cu2+ Adsorption on Cell Surface of Pseudomonas putida 5-x

Abstract: Analysis of Cu2+ adsorption on cell surface of a Gram-negative bacterium P. putida 5-x was carried out. Isolated cell envelopes possess fivefold more Cu2+ adsorption capacity than that of the fresh intact cells. Experimental results also indicate that the content of the peptidoglycan layer, the outer membrane and inner membrane in the cell envelope is in order of inner membrane > outer membrane > PEG layer, while their Cu2+ adsorption capacity is in order of PEG layer > outer membrane > inner membrane. The total contribution of the separated PEG layer material to Cu2+ adsorption is no more than 15% part, and the cell outer membrane and inner membrane contribute about 30%-35% and 25%-30% part, respectively, to Cu2+ adsorption by the cell envelope. The relatively high phospholipid content in the outer wall might result in its higher adsorption capacity to Cu2+, and leads to a higher adsorption capacity of the cell envelope of P. putida 5-x.
Direct Fan-Beam Reconstruction Algorithm via Filtered Backprojection for Differential Phase-Contrast Computed Tomography

Abstract: Recently, a novel data acquisition method has been proposed and experimentally implemented for differential phase-contrast computed tomography (DPC-CT), in which a conventional X-ray tube and a Talbot-Lau-type interferometer were utilized in data acquisition. The divergent nature of the data acquisition system requires a divergent-beam image reconstruction algorithm for DPC-CT. This paper focuses on addressing this image reconstruction issue. We have developed a filtered backprojection algorithm to directly reconstruct the DPC-CT images from acquired fan-beam data. The developed algorithm allows one to directly reconstruct the decrement of the real part of the refractive index from the measured data. In order to accurately reconstruct an image, the data need to be acquired over an angular range of at least 180 ¢ plus the fan angle. As opposed to the parallel beam data acquisition and reconstruction methods, a 180 ¢ -rotation angle for the data acquisition system does not provide sufficient data for an accurate reconstruction of the entire field of view. Numerical simulations have been conducted to validate the image reconstruction algorithm.
