The Role of Mg2 and BSA Langmuir Monolayers in Controlling Polymorph and Morphology of CaCO3 Crystal  [PDF]

Mg2 and bovine serum albumin (BSA) Langmuir monolayers were used as effective crystal nucleation, growth modifiers and template to control the crystallization of CaCO3. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterize the polymorph and morphology of crystals obtained at different experimental conditions, respectively. The results indicated that various morphologies such as abacus-bead-like particles, spherical-shaped particles, wood block-like particles, pignut-shell-like particles and the rolling pole shaped particles have been formed at the interface of air-solution. The polymorph of calcium carbonate obtained undergo an evolvement from calcite to vaterite and aragonite with increasing of the molar ratio of Mg2 to Ca2 , which indicated that the ability of Mg2 to induce the formation of aragonite was enhanced as the molar ratio of Mg2 to Ca2 increased. When the molar ratio reached 3, the samples obtained were all aragonite phase of calcium carbonate, which suggests that the presence of Mg2 of subphase solutions was helpful for the formation of aragonite phase in the systems of Mg2 -BSA Langmuir monolayers. The possible formation mechanisms of CaCO3 in different systems were discussed in the paper.
The Cooperative Effect of BSA Langmuir Monolayers and Magnesium Ions on Calcium Carbonate Crystallization  [PDF]

The crystallization of calcium carbonate at interface of Langmuir monolayers of bovine serum albumin and subphase containing magnesium ions was studied in this paper. The results were characterized by using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effect rules were obtained by the cooperation of bovine serum albumin Langmuir monolayers and magnesium ions. BSA Langmuir monolayers controlled calcium carbonate to magnesium ions in solution. The experiment results showed that in the presence of both BSA Langmuir monolayers at interface and magnesium ions in solutions, an orientation aragonite with regular spherical morphology was precipitated. It is indicated that BSA Langmuir monolayers and magnesium ions have a cooperative effect on controlling the polymorph and orientation of calcium carbonate crystal. The experiments suggested that BSA Langmuir monolayer acts in combination with magnesium ions to inhibit calcite crystal growth, while favoring the formation of aragonite crystals.
Formation of Stripes and Channels Structure of DPPC Langmuir Blodgett Monolayer at Middle Surface-Pressure  [PDF]

Monolayers of L-α-Dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) on the air-water interface have been transferred at a middling applied surface-pressure onto the mica substrates using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique. AFM was applied to observe the formation of morphology of DPPC. Our results show that the Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of DPPC on mica substrates generate a structured surface with periodic channels and stripes. The LB monolayers obtained at a surface pressure correspond to 20 mN/n. We take into account several explanations to understand the observed surface topological views. On the other hand, a lot of lipids, their Langmuir monolayer and Langmuir-Blodgett monolayer are excellent models of half-layer biological membranes, which can provide closer biological environment. Therefore, using the lipid Langmuir-Blodgett or Langmuir monolayer as prototype, one can simulate further biological environment and make further investigation on biomineralization mechanism of template-controlled.

In order to improve education quality, to carry on sunshine sports and to enhance students’ physical quality, there is a need of constant reform and innovation. Improve the teaching evaluation system through “General Student Sports Level Standard”; promote physical quality monitoring management through physical health management platform and improve physical health level; through development of sports community, stress on students self education, pay attention to all-round development, and promote development and prosperity of the university campus sport culture. To deepen sport reform in institutions of higher learning via the three means is an effective measure of physical education reform and development of higher learning institutions under the great education concept.

The Effect of Clinical Pathway in Patients with Acute Complicated Appendicitis  [PDF]

Abstract: Clinical pathway (CP) is a medical management tool made by a group of medical specialists and specialized for certain diseases. It has been proved that CP was an efficient way to optimize the hospitalization management and control medical cost. In this paper, we focused on the effect of CP in the patients with acute complicated appendicitis via total duration of hospitalization, hospitalization time before operation, total cost of hospitalization and drug expenditure. From March 2014 to March 2015, the patients with conditions of appendicitis in Three Gorges Central Hospital of Wanzhou, Chongqing, were divided into CP group and non path control group to analyze the effect of the application of CP. Our data showed that there were no significant differences between two groups of patients in total duration of hospitalization, hospitalization time before operation, total cost of hospitalization and drug expenditure. The implementation of CP neither decreased the time of patients in hospital nor the total hospitalization cost. Besides, application of CP for acute appendicitis patients should distinguish between simple appendicitis and complicated appendicitis, simple appendectomy patients implement CP is beneficial, and patients with complicated appendicitis did not come from the benefit.
Fabrication and structural characterization of large-scale uniform SnO2 nanotube arrays by sol-gel method

Abstract: Semiconductor SnO2 nanotube arrays were fabricated by sol-gel method based on highly ordered nanoporous anodic alumina membrane. Their microstructures were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, selective electron diffraction spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Results indicated that SnO2 nanotubes have a thickness of about 20–30 nm, and a diameter of about 100–200 nm. The length of the nanotubes is about 1 μm, XRD and SEDS indicated that these SnO2 nanotubes are polycrystalline.

Abstract: With the trend of economic globalization and localization services, employees are distributed in different regions, the old enterprise information system in closed environment has been difficult to support all the business in enterprises, also cannot meet the need of information sharing between upstream and downstream enterprises and partners in the supply chain. The new business model requires companies to have distributed information systems, remote access and other characteristics. VPN (virtual private network) is high cost and lack of flexibility, Web services-based information system can achieve low-cost real-time collection to process and share distributed information, which is the ideal model of enterprise information system. However, there is a big gap in current usability between the Web services and old desktop applications. This paper combines the usage patterns, business needs of enterprise information systems and technical characteristics of Web services, proposes the usability requirements of enterprise information systems based on Web services from different views of internal users, external customers and strategic partners.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Autoimmune or Immune-mediated Pathogenesis?

Abstract: The pathogenesis of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), is still unclear, but both autoimmune and immune-mediated phenomena are involved. Autoimmune phenomena include the presence of serum and mucosal autoantibodies against intestinal epithelial cells in either form of IBD, and against human tropomyosin fraction five selectively in UC. In addition, perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (pANCA) are common in UC, whereas antibodies against Saccharomyces cerevisiae (ASCA) are frequently found in CD. Immune-mediate phenomena include a variety of abnormalities of humoral and cell-mediated immunity, and a generalized enhanced reactivity against intestinal bacterial antigens in both CD and UC. It is currently believed that loss of tolerance against the indigenous enteric flora is the central event in IBD pathogenesis. Various complementary factors probably contribute to the loss of tolerance to commensal bacteria in IBD. They include defects in regulatory T-cell function, excessive stimulation of mucosal dendritic cells, infections or variants of proteins critically involved in bacterial antigen recognition, such as the products of CD-associated NOD2/CARD15 mutations.

Abstract: Stochastic acceleration of charged particles due to their interactions with plasma waves may be responsible for producing superthermal particles in a variety of astrophysical systems. This process can be described as a diffusion process in the energy space with the Fokker-Planck equation. In this paper, a time-dependent numerical code is used to solve the reduced Fokker-Planck equation involving only time and energy variables with general forms of the diffusion coefficients. We also propose a self-similar model for particle acceleration in Sedov explosions and use the TeV SNR RX J1713.7-3946 as an example to demonstrate the model characteristics. Markov Chain Monte Carlo method is utilized to constrain model parameters with observations.
Application of Grey Theory to Ionospheric Short-term Forecasting  [PDF]

Abstract: By analysis of historical data of the ionosphere, it is suggested to apply grey theory to ionospheric short-term forecasting, grey range information entropy is defined to determine the optimum grey length of the sample sequence, the prediction model based on residual error is constructed, and the observation data of multiple ionospheric observation stations in China are adopted for test. The prediction result indicates that the average grey range information entropy calculation results reflect the cyclical effects of solar rotation, precision of the forecasting method in high latitudes is higher than low latitudes, and its error is large relatively in more intense solar activity season, the effect of forecasting 1 day in advance of average relative residuals are less than 1 MHz, the average precision is more than 90%. It provides a new way of thinking for the ionospheric foF2 short-term forecast in the future.
