Phenolic Compounds from Merremia umbellata subsp. orientalis and Their Allelopathic Effects on Arabidopsis Seed Germination

Abstract: A bioassay-directed phytochemical study was carried out to investigate potential allelochemicals of the invasive plant Merremia umbellata subsp. orientalis (Hall. f.). Eight phenolic compounds, including a salicylic acid (SA)-derived new natural product, SA 2-O-β-D-(3',6'-dicaffeoyl)-glucopyranoside (1), and seven known ones 2-8 were isolated and identified from two bioactive sub-fractions of the acetone extract of this plant. The structure of new compound 1 was established by spectral and chemical methods. The potential allelopathic effects of these compounds at 0.5 and 1.0 mM concentrations on the germination of Arabidopsis seeds were tested. Results showed that 2 remarkably inhibited seed germination at concentrations as low as 0.5 mM. Compound 3 only moderately inhibited seed germination at 0.5 mM, but displayed strong inhibitory bioactivity at 1.0 mM concentration. Compounds 4 and 5 showed only slight inhibitory bioactivity at 1.0 mM, while the other compounds showed no obvious inhibitory effects.
Synthesis and Band Gap Control in Three-Dimensional Polystyrene Opal Photonic Crystals

Abstract: High-quality three-dimensional polystyrene opal photonic crystals are fabricated by vertical deposition method. The transmission properties with different incident angles and different composite refractive index contrasts are experimentally and theoretically studied. Good agreement between the experiment and theory is achieved. We find that with the increasing incident angle, the gap position shifts to the short wavelength (blue shift) and the gap becomes shallower; and with the increase of refractive index of the opal void materials and decrease the contrast of refractive index, the gap position shifts to the long wavelength (red shift). At the same time, we observe the swelling effects when the sample is immerged in the solutions with different refractive indices, which make the microsphere diameter in solution become larger than that in air. The understanding of band gap shift behaviour may be helpful in designing optical sensors and tunable photonic crystal ultrafast optical switches.

Abstract: This paper presents a new method for optimization problem which named population heuristic evolutionary programming (PHEP), it can grasp the information of distribution-status of population by control four parameters of population in the evolution process. PHEP adjusts the mutation size of individual according to such information. Ex- periments for benchmark problem imply that the PHEP can keep the balance of the population press and the selection press very well, the results are great better than other version EP methods.

Abstract: Two new phytoecdysteroids, (25S)-20,22-O-(R-ethylidene)inokosterone (1) and 20,22-O-(R-3-methoxycarbonyl)propylidene-20-hydroxyecdysone (2), together with six known phytoecdysteroids 3–8 were isolated from the roots of Achyranthes bidentata Blume. The new structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic studies and chemical evidences. The absolute configuration at C-25 in the structure of known compound 3 was determined by chemical and spectroscopic means.

Abstract: Based on the research of 3D facial model reconstruction and intelligent virtual entrainment, a new perception and autonomous behavior modeling approach for Avatar was proposed. In the new method, the Avatar was considered as an Agent,which could recognize 3D objects in the environment and calculate the direction of the moving objects by using the Avatar's perception sensor. Avatar walk behavior was simulated by skeleton model and denoted by seven motion sequences. Experiment results show that the new approach is more efficiency.

Abstract: 为了解中药材牛膝(Achyranthes bidentata Blume)根中的有效成分,用色谱技术从牛膝根中分离得到12个化合物。经波谱分析分别鉴定为:水龙骨甾酮B (1),shidasterone (2),齐墩果酸(3),齐墩果酸-3-O-β-D-吡喃葡萄糖醛酸-6′-O-甲酯 (4),竹节参苷Ⅳa甲酯 (5),N-顺式阿魏酰基酪胺(6),N-顺式阿魏酰-3-甲氧基酪胺(7),N-反式阿魏酰基酪胺(8),N-反式阿魏酰-3-甲氧基酪胺(9),(9E)-8,11,12-三羟基-十八碳烯酸(10),(9E)-8,11,12-三羟基-十八碳烯酸甲酯(11)和亚油酸(12)。其中化合物2、6、7和10~12为首次从牛膝中分离得到。这有利于对牛膝根进行更好地开发利用。
Circulating and Tumor-Infiltrating Foxp3+ Regulatory T Cell Subset in Chinese Patients with Extranodal NK/T Cell Lymphoma

Abstract: Foxp3+ regulatory T lymphocytes (Tregs) usually act as an immune suppressor and correlate with poorer survival in malignancies. This study aims to investigate the distribution and characterization of Foxp3+ subset in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and tumor tissues from extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma (ENKTL). Our study showed the percentage of Foxp3+ subset from PBMC was significantly higher than that of healthy individuals (P<0.001). The Foxp3+ subset from PBMCs expressed CD45RO, CTLA4, GITR, CCR7, and had an IL-10highIFNγ+TGFβ+IL-2lowIL-17low cytokine secreting phenotype. Interestingly, the existence of EBV antigen-specific CD8+Foxp3+ Tregs was discovered in ENKTL. Furthermore, the high density of Foxp3+ TILs was associated with improved progression-free survival (PFS) in ENKTL patients (P<0.05). Collectively, our study implicates that EBV antigens could induce antigen-specific CD8+Foxp3+ Tregs in ENKTL, and Foxp3+ TILs is an independent factor for PFS in ENKTL.
Effective DBHF Method for Asymmetric Nuclear Matter and Finite Nuclei

Abstract: A new decomposition of the Dirac structure of nucleon self-energies in the Dirac Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (DBHF) approach is adopted to investigate the equation of state for asymmetric nuclear matter. The effective coupling constants of $\sigma $, $\omega $, $\delta $ and $\rho $ mesons with a density dependence in the relativistic mean field approach are deduced by reproducing the nucleon self-energy resulting from the DBHF at each density for symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter. With these couplings the properties of finite nuclei are investigated. The agreement of charge radii and binding energies of finite nuclei with the experimental data are improved simultaneously in comparison with the projection method. It seems that the properties of finite nuclei are sensitive to the scheme used for the DBHF self-energy extraction. We may conclude that the properties of the asymmetric nuclear matter and finite nuclei could be well described by the new decomposition approach of the G matrix.

Abstract: Tandem repeats (TRs) are associated with dis-ease genes, play an important role in evolution and are important in genomic organization and function. Much research has been done on de-scriptions of properties of tandem repeats, such as copy-number, period, etc, and correlation be-tween mutations within tandem repeats and dis-ease. This project aims to detect some differ-ences which may exist within the features of dif-ferent tandem repeats associated with disease in human whole-genome. The features of tandem repeats associated with diabetes genes were compared to the counterparts of non-diabetes disease genes.
