Study on the Distribution of Networked Devices’ Clock Skew

Abstract: Clock skews of devices on the Internet are viewed as one way delay noise, but their distribution is unknown. We explore the distribution of clock skews to see the conflict probability. In this paper, we introduce an accurate clock skew estimation algorithm to filter inaccurate clock skew estimation by comparing the results between linear programming method and least square fitting. Delay jitter and other noises affect the estimation result. When the difference of two methods is large, the estimation result is unstable and inaccurate, so the estimation result should be dropped. Based on this algorithm, we use traces of real Internet measurements to collect 1825 accurate clock skews of different devices to establish a fingerprint database. Furthermore, we show the distribution of clock skews and comparing conflict probability with different number of devices. The distribution shows that clock skews are diverse, and most of clock skews are in the region of [-100, 100] PPM. The results indicate that when the number of devices is small (<5), clock skews won’t be conflict with each other, so clock skews are good tools to detect faked devices or NAT; When the number of devices increases, the conflict probability increases linearly, so clock skews of different devices can not distinguish each devices effectively.

Abstract:

Considering the soft constraint characteristics of voltage constraints, the Interior-Point Filter Algorithm is applied to solve the formulation of fuzzy model for the power system reactive power optimization with a large number of equality and inequality constraints. Based on the primal-dual interior-point algorithm, the algorithm maintains an updating “filter” at each iteration in order to decide whether to admit correction of iteration point which can avoid effectively oscillation due to the conflict between the decrease of objective function and the satisfaction of constraints and ensure the global convergence. Moreover, the “filter” improves computational efficiency because it filters the unnecessary iteration points. The calculation results of a practical power system indicate that the algorithm can effectively deal with the large number of inequality constraints of the fuzzy model of reactive power optimization and satisfy the requirement of online calculation which realizes to decrease the network loss and maintain specified margins of voltage.

Influence of Curing on the Strength Development of Calcium-Containing Geopolymer Mortar

Abstract: This paper investigated the curing effects on the mechanical properties of calcium-containing geopolymer mortar. Three precursors are used: Class C fly ash, Class F fly ash plus calcium hydroxide and Class F fly ash plus slag. Curing conditions included: (1) standard curing at 20 ± 3 °C and RH 95% (C); (2) steam curing at 60 °C for 24 h (S); (3) steam curing at 60 °C for 6 h (S6); and (4) oven curing at 60 °C for 24 h (O), then the latter three followed by the standard curing. Under the standard conditions, the flexural strength and compressive strength of Class C fly ash geopolymer mortars developed quickly until the age of 7 days, followed by a gradual increase. Specimens with Class F fly ash plus Ca(OH) 2 showed slow increase till the age of 28 days. Under these non-standard conditions (2–4), all specimens showed higher 3-day strength, while later strengths were either higher or lower than those in standard conditions, depending on the type of the precursor.
Quantum Phase Transition of Bosons in a Shaken Optical Lattice

Abstract: Recently, the lattice shaking technique has been used to couple different Bloch bands resonantly. For the one-dimensional (1D) case, in which shaking is along only one direction, experimental observation of domain-wall formation has been explained by superfluid Ising transition. Inspired by these, we generalize to a 2D case in which shaking is along two orthogonal directions. Analogous to the 1D case, we find three different phases, the normal superfluid (NSF) phase, the $D_4$ symmetry-breaking superfluid ($D_4$SF) phase and the Mott insulator (MI) phase. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the interaction effect induced by inhomogeneous band mixing can modify the critical shaking amplitude. Unlike in the 1D case, shaking types also can modify the critical shaking amplitude. Unlike in the 1D case, shaking types also can modify the critical shaking amplitude. We also construct a low-energy effective field theory to study the quantum criticality of bosons near the tricritical point of NSF, $D_4$SF and MI phases. Moreover, we find a Bose liquid with anisotropically algebraic order and propose to change the Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) into a non-condensed Bose liquid by tuning the shaking amplitude approaching the critical value.
Beam dynamics studies of the photo-injector in low-charge operation mode for the ERL test facility at IHEP

Abstract: The energy recovery linac test facility (ERL-TF), a compact ERL-FEL (free electron laser) two-purpose machine, was proposed at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Beijing. As one important component of the ERL-TF, the photo-injector started with a photocathode direct-current gun has been designed. In this paper optimization of the injector beam dynamics in low-charge operation mode is performed with iterative scans using Impact-T. In addition, the dependencies between the optimized beam quality and the initial offset at cathode and element parameters are investigated. The tolerance of alignment and rotation errors is also analyzed.

Abstract: Precision medicine demands accurate assessment of tumor response to therapies with the purpose of timely optimization or adjustment of the given treatment regimens. Chemoradiation remains the standard of care in advanced lung cancers and imaging-based noninvasive response evaluation could improve therapeutic efficacy and reduce treatment-related severe side effects. In this review, we overviewed the applications and pitfalls of major imaging modalities in response evaluation in lung cancer from a quantitative perspective. The development of radiomics will provide more precise information for treatment predicting, evaluation and prognosis.
Contrasting Drought Tolerance in Two Apple Cultivars Associated with Difference in Leaf Morphology and Anatomy  [PDF]

Abstract: Apple is one of the most important fruit trees in temperate zones, and is cultivated widely throughout the world. Drought stress affects the normal growth of apple tree, and further affects fruit yield and quality. The present study examined the effects of drought on photosynthesis and water use efficiency (WUE) of two apple cultivars (Honeycrisp and Yanfu 3) that differ in drought tolerance. The results showed that the photosynthetic rate decreased in response to drought stress for both cultivars, with significant differences in intensity. Values for net photosynthetic rate (Pn) in stressed Yanfu 3 remained significantly lower than in the controls, while, for Honeycrisp, only a slight drop in photosynthesis. Similarly, stomatal conductance (Gs), intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci), transpiration rate (Tr) were markedly reduced in Yanfu 3 under drought stress. However, Honeycrisp showed only minor changes. Under drought stress, the contents of Chl a, Chl b and Chl t in Yanfu 3 were all decreased significantly compared with the control. However, little difference in Honeycrisp was noted between stressed plants and controls. Values for WUE in stressed Yanfu 3 remained higher than in the controls from day 3 until the end of the experiment, while no significant difference was observed in Honeycrisp. Furthermore, Honeycrisp also exhibited superior physiological traits, as indicated by its anatomical and morphological characteristics. Therefore, we conclude that the superior drought tolerance of Honeycrisp was due to its anatomical and morphological characteristics, which possibly contributed to the maintenance of higher photosynthetic capacity than Yanfu 3.

Abstract: In this paper ITO thin films were deposited on alumina substrates by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. The NO2 sensing properties of ITO thin films were investigated. The results show ITO thin films have good sensitivity to nitrogen dioxide.
The Preparation of ZnGa2O4 Nano Crystals by Spray Coprecipitation and Its Gas Sensitive Characteristics

Abstract: ZnGa2O4 nano crystals were prepared by an improved coprecipitation method, which we call ‘spray coprecipitation’. XRD results shows the resulting crystal size using the new method is under 10nm, whereas the powder prepared by ordinary coprecipitation is about 30nm. XRD results also shows ZnO peaks exists in ZnGa2O4 powder prepared by traditional coprecipitation, but disappears in ZnGa2O4 nano crystal prepared by spraying coprecipitation. SEM and TEM were used to analysis the structural characteristics of ZnGa2O4 nano crystals. The gas sensitive characteristics of ZnGa2O4 nano crystals are reported.

Abstract: 利用启动子探针型载体pSUPV4直接在大肠杆菌 (Escherichiacoli)中分离枯草芽孢杆菌 (Bacillussubtilis)WB6 0 0的基因启动子片段 ,获得 5 5个具有卡那霉素抗性的重组子。对 3个抗性最高的重组子pSU -Bs2 ,pSU -Bs4 ,pSU -Bs8进行序列测定和同源性分析发现 ,所克隆到的基因启动子片段均来自于枯草芽孢杆菌的基因组 ,并且具有枯草杆菌基因启动子的保守序列。对抗性最高的Bs2片段进一步研究表明 ,它可以在大肠杆菌中高效地启动来自于短小芽孢杆菌的碱性蛋白酶基因的表达 ,也能在枯草芽孢杆菌中启动卡那霉素抗性基因的表达。
