Study on the Formation and Properties of Liquid Crystal Emulsion in Cosmetic  [PDF]
Wanping Zhang,Lingyan Liu
Journal of Cosmetics, Dermatological Sciences and Applications (JCDSA) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jcdsa.2013.32022
Abstract: In this paper, the formation of liquid crystal structure in preparation of emulsion and the change of those liquid crystal structures during storage and usage were studied. Besides, the rheological and moisturizing property of the liquid crystal structure emulsion was investigated as well. The results show that the liquid crystal structure at oil-water interface in the emulsion forms gradually with cooling process after homogenization. The liquid crystal structure doesn’t change significantly during the storage within 12 months. And after emulsion being stored for 18 months, the crystal structure starts to decompose. Upon application on the skin, the liquid crystal structure of emulsion was found to transform into other form with rubbing, although the liquid crystal structure still remains. The rheological data shows that liquid crystal emulsion exhibits solid-like (elastic) property during storage, which is favorable for good stability. On the other hand, liquid crystal emulsion shows typical shear-thinning property upon usage, which leads to an excellent skin sensory feeling. And the improved moisturizing properties of such emulsion may be attributed to the liquid crystal structure.
Structural Dilemma in Health System Reform in the Chinese Mainland and Emerging of Structure-Based Bioethics Paradigm  [PDF]
Liu Jitong, Zhang Dongqi
Chinese Studies (ChnStd) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/chnstd.2013.23022
Abstract: After reviewing the historical development of ethics and individual-based bioethics in Western countries, and comparing that in China, this paper starts from the extreme Beijing Tongren Case and the dilemma in the reform of health system in the Chinese mainland, and puts forward the topics of bioethics and medical professionalism under the circumstances of globalization, global health, and global health system reform. It compares the individual-based bioethics in Western countries and the structure-based bioethics in the Chinese mainland, and discusses the lessons of structure-based bioethics for other countries. The historical experience of health system reform in the Chinese mainland indicates that the health care system is welfare in nature, which is crucial; that the welfare health care system is the systematic foundation of medical professionalism; that there should not be direct economic interest generated in doctor-patient relationship since the marketization of health financing may lead to not only the structure intension of doctor-patient relationship, but also a total collapse of the medical professionalism. Therefore the Health Finance rather than Health Economics should be the material foundation of medical professionalism. The paper also points out that the main determinants of medical professionalism are not individual medical professionals, but the outcome of interaction between socio-cultural institutions and individual professionals, in which the sociality and structure are the most important components.

Abstract: Solar photovoltaic (PV) generation is one of the most important renewable energy resources, which is a green energy too. The operation and control of the solar PV generation system are important for its application. This paper studies the control strategy of the converter used in solar energy photovoltaic (PV) power generation, which can connect with the power grid. The simulation model of the PV generation system is set up to verify the feasibility of the control strategy. And some experiments have been done in the renewable experiment kit of TI Company.
Are Religious Affections Positive or Negative?—The Role of Religious Affections on Executive Control  [PDF]
Hailan Liu, Qin Zhang
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2013.412140
Abstract:

The present study investigated the influence of religious affections on executive control compared with positive and negative emotions using emotional priming paradigm and the letter flanker task. 58 participants (Tibetan Buddhists, 28 males and 30 females) were required to identify the central target letter after primed by religious, positive, or negative pictures. There was a space (loose) or no space (close) between neighboring letters. The results revealed that in close condition both religious affections-prime and negative emotional-prime reduced the flanker effect in response accuracy (ACC) compared to positive emotional-prime for female participants. It means that religious affections do not function as positive emotions on executive control. Moreover, for females, when primed by religious pictures, the ACC flanker effect was negatively related to the arousal of religious pictures, but when primed by negative pictures, the flanker effect in response time was positively related to the valence of negative pictures. The correlation analysis indicates that religious affections and negative emotions may influence executive control in different ways. These findings suggest that religious affections exert their special influence on executive control, not simply positive or negative.

Steffensen-Type Method of Super Third-Order Convergence for Solving Nonlinear Equations  [PDF]
Zhongli Liu, Hong Zhang
Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics (JAMP) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jamp.2014.27064
Abstract:

In this paper, a one-step Steffensen-type method with super-cubic convergence for solving nonlinear equations is suggested. The convergence order 3.383 is proved theoretically and demonstrated numerically. This super-cubic convergence is obtained by self-accelerating second-order Steffensen’s method twice with memory, but without any new function evaluations. The proposed method is very efficient and convenient, since it is still a derivative-free two-point method. Its theoretical results and high computational efficiency is confirmed by Numerical examples.

An Analysis of Dee’s Identity Construction from the Perspective of Consumer Culture  [PDF]
Qian Zhang, Haimei Liu
Advances in Literary Study (ALS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/als.2014.23012
Abstract:

This paper will focus on the role of the consumer culture in Dee’s identity construction in Everyday Use. Dee’s identification with the female image and her aestheticization of the reality and the history of African American reflect consumer culture acts as the “Other” in the Dee’s identity construction. However, consumption culture also serves as the domain where Dee establishes her self-identity as a black female in a white-dominant world. Through the exploration of the double role of consumer culture in Dee’s identity construction, this thesis advocates that in Every Use Walker presents the new black women dilemma in white-male consumer society and her thought on how to construct black female identities under the invasion of consumer culture into the American South, so that to some extent it makes certain contribution to the issue how women construct their own identity in the consumer society full of survival anxiety.
