Reflection theory for rotational diffusion tensor in multi-component colloidal suspensions

Abstract: This paper studies the reflection theory for multi-component colloidal suspension systems and presents the method of deriving the rotational diffusion tensor.The two-body and leading three-body contributions of hydrodynamic interaction to the diffusion tensor are calculated.
Effects of NaCl Stress on the Inorganic Ion Contents in Atriplex undulata Roots and Leaves

Abstract: 用不同浓度的NaCl溶液处理滨藜(Atriplex undulata)植株后发现:100mmol/L NaCl促进滨藜地上部及根部生物量积累,高于100mmol/l NaCl,抑制其生长。各部位的Na^ 和Cl^-含量随着NaCl浓度的升高明显增加。NaCl处理下,叶片的Na^ 和Cl^-含量高于根部,幼叶高于老叶,且叶片的K^ (除500mmol/L NaCl处理的老叶外),根部的K^ 、Ca^2 和NO3^-无显著变化。叶片的Na/K比随NaCl浓度的升高而增加,但较高浓度时下降(在老叶中)或维持稳定(在幼叶中)。随着处理浓度的增加,各部位对K^ 的选择性(相对于Na^ )增加,渗透调节能力增强,渗透势降低。另外,还讨论了滨藜对盐渍生境的适应特征。
Piezoelectric transducer parameter selection for exciting a single mode from multiple modes of Lamb waves

Abstract: Excitation and propagation of Lamb waves by using rectangular and circular piezoelectric transducers surface-bonded to an isotropic plate are investigated in this work. Analytical stain wave solutions are derived for the two transducer shapes, giving the responses of these transducers in Lamb wave fields. The analytical study is supported by a numerical simulation using the finite element method. Symmetric and antisymmetric components in the wave propagation responses are inspected in detail with respect to test parameters such as the transducer geometry, the length and the excitation frequency. By placing only one piezoelectric transducer on the top or the bottom surface of the plate and weakening the strength of one mode while enhancing the strength of the other modes to find the centre frequency, with which the peak wave amplitude ratio between the S0 and A0 modes is maximum, a single mode excitation from the multiple modes of the Lamb waves can be achieved approximately. Experimental data are presented to show the validity of the analyses. The results are used to optimize the Lamb wave detection system.

Abstract: In modern VLSI technology, hundreds of thousands of arithmetic units fit on a 1cm2 chip. The challenge is supplying them with instructions and data. Stream architecture is able to solve the problem well. However, the applications suited for typical stream architecture are limited. This paper presents the definition of regular stream and irregular stream, and then describes MASA (Multiple-morphs Adaptive Stream Architecture) prototype system which supports different execution models according to applications' stream characteristics. This paper first discusses MASA architecture and stream model, and then explores the features and advantages of MASA through mapping stream applications to hardware. Finally MASA is evaluated by ten benchmarks. The result is encouraging. This research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No.60473080). Lattice Boltzmann simulation of fluid flows in two-dimensional channel with complex geometries

Abstract: Boundary conditions (BCs) play an essential role in lattice Boltzmann (LB) simulations. This paper investigates several most commonly applied BCs by evaluating the relative L2-norm errors of the LB simulations for two-dimensional (2-D) Poiseuille flow. It is found that the relative L2-norm error resulting from FHML's BC is smaller than that from other BCs as a whole. Then, based on the FHML's BC, it formulates an LB model for simulating fluid flows in 2-D channel with complex geometries. Afterwards, the flows between two inclined plates, in a pulmonary blood vessel and in a blood vessel with local expansion region, are simulated. The numerical results are in good agreement with the analytical predictions and clearly show that the model is effective. It is expected that the model can be extended to simulate some real biologic flows, such as blood flows in arteries, vessels with stenosises, aneurysms and bifurcations, etc.

Abstract: In the title compound, C16H19FN3O3+·C8H5O4 ·0.5C8H6O4, the benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid molecule is located on a centre of symmetry. In the crystal, the molecules and ions are connected by intermolecular C—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions [with a centroid–centroid distance of 3.402 (2) ], generating a three-dimensional supramolecular structure.

Abstract: In the title compound, [Mn(C14H8O6S)(C10H8N2)]n, the MnII ion is coordinated by four O atoms from three 4,4′-sulfonyldibenzoate (sdba) ligands and two N atoms from one 2,2′-bipyridine (2,2′-bipy) ligand in a distorted octahedral geometry. The manganese atoms are alternately bridged either by two sdba ligands, with an Mn...Mn separation of 12.284 (1) , or by two carboxylate groups from two sdba ligands, with an Mn...Mn separation of 4.064 (1) , thus producing polymeric chains propagated in [101]. Weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions [centroid–centroid distance of 3.730 (3) between the aromatic rings of neighbouring polymeric chains] further stabilize the crystal packing.

Abstract: Crystals of the title compound, C9H11N3O, were obtained from a condensation reaction of nicotinohydrazide and acetone. In the molecular structure, the pyridine ring is oriented at a dihedral angle of 36.28 (10)° with respect to the amide plane. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked via N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming chains.
