Abstract: We report a case of ambiguous genitalia in a 15-year-old patient to demonstrate input of medical imaging in the diagnosis and care of this rare congenital deformation. Disorders of sexual differentiation (DSD) have been defined as congenital conditions in which development of chromosome, gonad, or anatomic sex is atypical and that raise an issue in the sex assignment. In lower socioeconomic countries where antenatal diagnosis is almost non-existent, due to lack of technical facilities, their medical and surgical management is hard. The case which we report was investigated by ultrasonography and genitography, which remains primary indications in our context.

Abstract: Uterine perforation is a serious complication after insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD). We report the case of a 34-year-old woman receiving in consultation for abdominal pain. In the interrogation there was a notion of IUD insertion for about a week. The gynecological examination did not find the thread of IUD and the ultrasound performed did not visualize an IUD. Radiography of the abdomen without preparation highlighted a compatible intrapelvic foreign thing like an IUD. The diagnosis of pelvic inflammatory disease by uterine perforation by an IUD was thus retained. We suggest in case of suspicion of uterine radio paque IUD perforation achieving radiography when the abdominal pelvic ultrasound is normal.
The Influence of Metakaolin from Saaba (Burkina Faso) over Physico-Mechanical and Durability Properties of Mortars  [PDF]

Abstract: The paper evaluates the feasibility of reducing clinker in the Portland Cement production using local metakaolin in Burkina Faso. Standardized testing methods have been used for this purpose, and experiments were performed on mortar prisms containing different amounts of metakaolin. Important results about the physical, mechanical and durability characterization of blended mortars were carried out in this study. The obtained results are discussed based on available literature data. These results have shown increased physical and durability properties for blended mortars. Although the mechanical strengths remained relatively low for higher MK incorporations, the latter grow to surpass these of PC mortars (the reference) at 28, 56 and 90 days of curing. The results in the paper, have confirmed the possibility of using metakaolin to partially substitute cement, a possibility to reduce the CO2 production by the cement industry in Burkina Faso.

We are interested in solutions that are even or odd, and have period π or semi-period π. The above equation with one of the above conditions constitutes a regular Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem. Abstract: Porous alumina was fabricated electrochemically through anodic oxidation of aluminum by means of such a self-organized method. Anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) template with nanopores was grown by two-steps anodization processes from a high purity aluminium foil. The anodization process was carried out in a phosphoric acid electrolyte at ambient temperature with a different duration of anodization. The analysis observation by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) showed that nanopore size increased with anodization time. The nanopore sizes of porous alumina were (16.04, 26.19 and 37.39 nm) for (1, 2 and 3 hour) respectively.

Abstract: The objective of this work is to determine changes of surface properties of a bentonite after acid activation, using hydrochloric acid solutions (HCl) at room temperature. XRD, FX, FTIR, MEB, and BET analyses of the samples have been carried out to examine the structure of bentonite before and after acid activation. It is found that the raw bentonite is composed of dioctahedral montmorillonite with predominant quantity and certain amounts of quartz, albite and illite, etc. It has an cation exchange capacity (CEC) of 74.32 meq/g which allows it to be characterized as typical sodium bentonite. The changes, at low acid concentrations, are the result from from cation exchange (exchangeable cations with H+ ions). Differences of surface area at high acid concentrations (0.25 - 0.4 M) were caused by structural changes and partial decomposition of the samples. Data of surface area measurements have showed that with increase of concentration of hydrochloric acid, the surface area increased. The maximum value (837.11 m2/g) was reached by the sample activated with 0.4 M HCl. By against, activation with higher concentration (0.6 M) caused a decrease in the surface area.

Abstract: In order to assess causality between binary economic outcomes, we consider the estimation of a bivariate dynamic probit model on panel data that has the particularity to account the initial conditions of the dynamic process. Due to the intractable form of the likelihood function that is a two dimensions integral, we use an approximation method: The adaptative Gauss-Hermite quadrature method. For the accuracy of the method and to reduce computing time, we derive the gradient of the log-likelihood and the Hessian of the integrand. The estimation method has been implemented using the d1 method of Stata software. We made an empirical validation of our estimation method by applying on simulated data set. We also analyze the impact of the number of quadrature points on the estimations and on the estimation process duration. We then conclude that when exceeding 16 quadrature points on our simulated data set, the relative differences in the estimated coefficients are around 0.01% but the computing time grows up exponentially.
A Generic Computational Solution of a Natural Convection Flow past an Infinite Vertical Porous Plate  [PDF]

Abstract: A simulation was carried out on an unsteady flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate. A generic computer program using the Galerkin finite element method is employed to solve the coupled non-linear differential equations for velocity and temperature fields. The diffusion equation, the energy equation, the momentum equations and other relevant parameters are transformed into interpretable postfix codes. Numerical calculations are carried out on the flow fields both in the presence of cooling and heating of the plate by free convection currents. The effects of the dimensionless parameters, namely, the Prandtl number, the Eckert number, the modified Grashof number, the Schmidt number and the time on the temperature and velocity distributions are discussed.

Abstract: Introduction: The extrinsic compression of the third portion of the duodenum between the superior mesenteric artery and the aorta defines superior mesenteric artery syndrome. It determines an acute or chronic high intestinal obstruction pattern. We report the first observed case in Chad. Observation: HH was a 19 year-old woman with abdominal pain and intermittent postprandial vomiting since she was 5 years old. During last 11 months, post-prandial vomiting was more frequent, and non resolved after medical treatment. Unquantified weight loss was reported. Body mass index at hospitalization was 9.8. An injected abdominal scan demonstrated significant gastroduodenal distension, upstream of a stenosis of the third duodenal portion. Aorto-mesenteric space and angle were reduced. At laparotomy internal derivation by duodenojejunostomy was done. Postoperative situation was uneventful. Conclusion: Superior mesenteric artery syndrome determines an acute or chronic intestinal obstruction. Injected abdominal scan is fundamental for diagnosis. The treatment is firstly conservative but the need of surgery is common.

Abstract: In this scientific report are given some results of drinking water in some primary schools in Shala e Bajgor s. Samples which are analyzed are in region that is near mining Trep a in Mitrovica Municipality that are presented. Taking into consideration all important parameters we found they were within given limits , just temperature that is higher than given limits, so analysis of water samples for thermo tolerant faecal coli forms which are carried out by passing a measured quantity of water through sterile filter told us more than 60 % of samples were contaminated. Therefore it was necessary to complete the procedure for chlorination of wells using Galisept. On the base of physical – chemical and bacteriological parameters we may conclude that only after continual procedure of chlorination of wells it will be completed the conditions for drinking water in analyzed samples.
