Abstract: Let $\Cal C,\Cal C'$ be curves over a base scheme $S$ with $g(\Cal C)\ge 2$. Then the functor $T\mapsto\{$generically smooth $T$-morphisms $T\times_S\Cal C'\to T\times_S\Cal C\}$ from $((S$-schemes)) to ((sets)) is represented by a quasi-finite unramified $S$-scheme. From this one can deduce that for any two integers $g\ge 2$ and $g'$, there is an integer $M(g,g')$ such that for any two curves $C,C'$ over any field $k$ with $g(C)=g$, $g(C')=g'$, there are at most $M(g,g')$ separable $k$-morphisms $C'\to C$. It is conjectured that the arithmetic function $M(g,g')$ is bounded by a linear function of $g'$.

Abstract: Based on the second wave’s database of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, this paper uses binary logistic regression to analyze the impact of the living arrangements on the medical services’ utilization among the elderly. The results show that: 1) The residential types have different influence on different medical services. 2) The number of cohabitants has a positive impact on the therapeutic medical services. 3) Living distance between the older people and their children also has opposite effect between the preventive and therapeutic medical services. In order to reduce the prevalence of the elderly and improve their health services utilization, offspring should pay more attention to the elderly’s life, providing more material and spiritual support.

Abstract: Nanostructured NiPdCe particles be arc plasma method in Ar+H2 atmosphere were characterized by TEM, HRTEM and XRD. The results show that nanostructured NiPdCe particles possess the special Structure consisting of the thin-shell layer composed of a series of CeNi phases, Pd and CeO2 and the core composed of Ni and Pd. The thickness of the shell layer is 2~3 nm. The reactivity of nano-NiPdCe particles was measured in the gas-phase hydrogenation of toluene. The results show that nano-NiPdCe particles possess high reactivity above 325℃ and the product selectivity is 100%. The reactivity of nano-NiPdCe particles depends on the synergistic effects of CeNi phases, Ni and Pd as well as the hydrogen storage property.
Short-Term Effects of Gaseous Pollutants and Particulate Matter on Daily Hospital Admissions for Cardio-Cerebrovascular Disease in Lanzhou: Evidence from a Heavily Polluted City in China

Abstract: Panel studies show a consistent association between increase in the cardiovascular hospitalizations with air pollutants in economically developed regions, but little evidence in less developed inland areas. In this study, a time-series analysis was used to examine the specific effects of major air pollutants [particulate matter less than 10 microns in diameter (PM 10), sulfur dioxide (SO 2), and nitrogen dioxides (NO 2)] on daily hospital admissions for cardio-cerebrovascular diseases in Lanzhou, a heavily polluted city in China. We examined the effects of air pollutants for stratified groups by age and gender, and conducted the modifying effect of seasons on air pollutants to test the possible interaction. The significant associations were found between PM 10, SO 2 and NO 2 and cardiac disease admissions, SO 2 and NO 2 were found to be associated with the cerebrovascular disease admissions. The elderly was associated more strongly with gaseous pollutants than younger. The modifying effect of seasons on air pollutants also existed. The significant effect of gaseous pollutants (SO 2 and NO 2) was found on daily hospital admissions even after adjustment for other pollutants except for SO 2 on cardiac diseases. In a word, this study provides the evidence for the detrimental short-term health effects of urban gaseous pollutants on cardio-cerebrovascular diseases in Lanzhou.
