Abstract: In this paper, the types of specific DNA probes from plant were briefly described, and some methods of constructing specific probes were introduced,mainly were the isolation and screening of specific DNA sequences. The applications of the specific probes in the germplasm and foreign chromosome identifications,the karyotype and genome analyses were also summarized and discussed.

Abstract: 为探讨巴西橡胶树(Hevea brasiliensis)死皮病抗性相关HbMyb1 基因的定位,采用所建立的橡胶树染色体原位PCR 技术体系进行研究。结果表明, HbMyb1 基因初步定位于巴西橡胶树‘热研7-33-97’的第5 号染色体长臂上,信号位点到着丝粒的百分距离为15.21,并观察到在巴西橡胶树‘热研7-33-97’叶片细胞核的不同分裂时期均扩增到1~2 个信号。同时对染色体标本的制备、保存、预处理等方面进行了探讨。

Abstract: Based on the Hertzian granular contact mechanics model, the paper built up a Macroscopic Young’s Elastic Modulus of particle/granular packing rock layers, and built up a ties to connecting Young’s Elastic Modulus of sand particle in Meso and the Macroscopic Young’s Modulus of granular packing rock layers. The Macroscopic Young’s Modulus of granular packing rock layers is far less than the Young’s Modulus of sand particle. The Macroscopic Young’s Modulus of granular packing rock layers is proportioned to the powers of 1/3 of the vertical contact force of sand particles. The Macroscopic Young’s Modulus is inversely proportional to particle diameter. The paper calculated the vertical contact force of five types aligning mode of the particles. When equal stress, the increased of the coordination number lead to the decrease of the contact force fn, this lead to the coordination number is an inverse proportion to Macroscopic Young’s Modulus. But the larger coordination number change only means very little Macroscopic Young’s Modulus change.
Current prophylactic strategies against hepatitis B virus recurrence after liver transplantation

Abstract: Prophylactic strategies against hepatitis B virus (HBV) recurrence after liver transplantation (LT) are essential for patients with HBV-related disease. Before LT, lamivudine (LAM) was proposed to be down-graded from first- to second-line therapy. In contrast, adefovir dipivoxil (ADV) has been approved not only as first-line therapy but also as rescue therapy for patients with LAM resistance. Furthermore, combination of ADV and LAM may result in lower risk of ADV resistance than ADV monotherapy. Other new drugs such as entecavir, telbivudine and tenofovir, are probably candidates for the treatment of hepatitis-B-surface-antigen-positive patients awaiting LT. After LT, low-dose intramuscular hepatitis B immunoglobulin (HBIG), in combination with LAM, has been regarded as the most cost-effective regimen for the prevention of post-transplant HBV recurrence in recipients without pretransplant LAM resistance and rapidly accepted in many transplant centers. With the introduction of new antiviral drugs, new hepatitis B vaccine and its new adjuvants, post-transplant HBIG-free therapeutic regimens with new oral antiviral drug combinations or active HBV vaccination combined with adjuvants will be promising, particularly in those patients with low risk of HBV recurrence.
Turbulent Boundary Layer Control via a Streamwise Travelling Wave Induced by an External Force

Abstract: Turbulent boundary layer control via a streamwise travelling wave is investigated based on direct numerical simulation of an incompressible turbulent channel flow. The streamwise travelling wave is induced on one side wall of the channel by a spanwise external force, e.g., Lorenz force, which is confined in the viscous sublayer. As the control strategy used in this study has never been examined, we pay our attention to its efficiency of drag control. It is revealed that the propagating direction of the travelling wave, i.e., the downstream or upstream propagating direction with respect to the streamwise flow, has an important role on the drag control, leading to a significant drag reduction or enhancement for the parameters considered. The coherent structures of turbulent boundary layer are altered and the underlying mechanisms are analysed. The results obtained provide physical insight into the understanding of turbulent boundary layer control.
A polymorphism within ErbB4 is associated with risk for hepatocellular carcinoma in Chinese population

Abstract: AIM: To investigate the association between hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) susceptibility and a 12-bp insertion/deletion polymorphism (rs6147150) in the 3’UTR of ErbB4. METHODS: Using a case-control design, the rs6147150 genotypes in 270 patients with HCC and 270 healthy controls were determined by direct polymerase chain reaction and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Logistic regression was used to analyze the association between the polymorphism and cancer risk. RESULTS: Computational modeling suggested that rs6147150 was located in the seed region of hsa-let-7c, a potential target sequence in ErbB4 3’UTR. Logistic regression analysis showed that, compared with individuals homozygous for wild-type, heterozygotes [adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 1.48, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.03-2.17, P = 0.034] and individuals homozygous for 12-bp del/del (OR = 2.50, 95% CI = 1.37-4.56, P = 0.001) were at significantly higher risk of HCC. Carriers of the “del” allele of rs6147150 had a 1.59-fold increased risk for HCC (95% CI = 1.22-2.07, P = 0.003). CONCLUSION: rs6147150 may be associated with HCC risk, in part through let-7c-mediated regulation, and may be involved in the pathogenesis of HCC in Chinese populations.

Treatment of chronic proliferative cholangitis with c-myc shRNA

Abstract: AIM: To investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of c-myc shRNA in inhibiting the hyperplastic behavior and lithogenic potentiality of chronic proliferative cholangitis (CPC), in order to prevent stone recurrence and biliary restenosis.METHODS: An animal model of CPC was established by giving intralumenally 0.5 mL of c-myc shRNA. Then, the effects of c-myc shRNA on hyperplastic behavior and lithogenic potentiality of CPC were evaluated by histological observation, immunohistochemistry, real-time PCR and Western blotting for c-myc, proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), procollagen III, mucin 5AC, enzymatic histochemistry for β-glucuronidase, and biochemistry for hydroxyproline in the diseased bile duct.RESULTS: Treatment with c-myc shRNA efficiently suppressed the hyperplasia of biliary epithelium, submucosal gland, and collagen fiber by inhibiting mRNA and protein expression of c-myc. More importantly, it decreased the lithogenic potentiality of CPC by inhibiting the expression of mucin 5AC and the secretion of endogenous β-glucuronidase. Further investigation indicated that c-myc shRNA-3 had a better inhibitory effect on CPC.CONCLUSION: Treatment with c-myc shRNA-3 can control CPC and reduce the lithogenic potentiality of CPC.
The comparison of phosphorus and nitrogen pollution status of the Xiangxi River before and after the impoundment of the Three Gorges Reservoir

Abstract: 分别于三峡水库蓄水前的上世纪1996—1997年及蓄水后的2004年采集了香溪河水样及沉积物样,研究了蓄水前后香溪河氮磷的污染状况。结果表明,蓄水前上游总磷浓度低于0.05mg/L,下游在0.22—0.34mg/L之间,其浓度与生活污水及工业废水排放有关;总氮浓度变化不大,在0.7—1.1mg/L之间。蓄水后磷、氮浓度明显升高,但总磷在回水区由于沉降作用反而低于蓄水前。蓄水后下游氮磷比普遍高于10,加之水流变缓,使香溪河库湾发生“水华”的可能性增加。香溪河沉积物磷污染严重,总磷含量高达1221mg/kg,主要以无机磷污染为主。三峡水库蓄水后,对上游库湾水环境的不利影响已开始显现出来,必须采取有效措施,防止水环境的恶化。
