Abstract: In this paper we study the swap operation in a two-qubit anisotropic XXZ model in the presence of an inhomogeneous magnetic field. We establish the range of anisotropic parameter within which the swap operation is feasible. The swap errors caused by the inhomogeneous field are evaluated.
Solutions to the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation

Abstract: This is a continuation of Ref.[1](arXiv:nlin.SI/0603008). In the present paper we review solutions to the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation in terms of Wronskians. The Wronskian entry vector needs to satisfy a matrix differential equation set which contains complex operation. This is different from the case of the Korteweg-de Vries equation. We introduce an auxiliary matrix to deal with the complex operation and then we are able to give complete solution expressions for the matrix differential equation set. The obtained solutions to the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation can simply be categorized by two types: solitons and breathers, together with their limit cases. Besides, we give rational solutions to the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation in Wromskian form. This is derived with the help of the Galilean transformed modified Korteweg-de Vries equation. Finally, typical dynamics of the obtained solutions is analyzed and illustrated. We list out the obtained solutions and their corresponding basic Wronskian vectors in the conclusion part.

Abstract:

As one of the most frequently used medicinal herbs in China, Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) is notable for its beneficial effects in alleviation of cardio- and cerebro- vascular disorders. Results from previous phytochemical, pharmacological and pharmacokinetic studies supported the contributions of 10 main components, namely ferulic acid (3), senkyunolide I (4), senkyunolide H (5), senkyunolide A (6), coniferylferulate (7), Z-ligustilide (8), sedanolide (9), 3-butylidenephthalide (10), riligustilide (11) and levistolide A (12), for therapeutic outcomes of the herb. To prepare a Chuanxiong extract, which is selectively enriched with these main components, the supercritical fluid extraction (SCFE) technique using CO2 was chosen in the present study due to its superiority in extraction of lipophilic components, especially thermo-labile components from natural products. Eight Chuanxiong samples were extracted under different SCFE conditions. Contents of 3 - 12 in SCFE extracts and remained in herbal residues were determined using HPLC-UV and compared with those in 95% ethanol extracts of the respective herbal samples. The results showed that contents of 3 - 12 were generally enriched by SCFE with higher recoveries achieved for lipophilic constituents, including the three most abundant constituents 6, 7 and 8. Moreover, extraction yield of the less lipophilic 3, 4 and 5 was improved by adding ethanol as entrainer. Higher flow rate of CO2 (10 - 13 L/h vs 9 -

Preparation and Phase Stability of La2O3, Y2O3 Co-doped ZrO2 Ceramic Powder Application for Thermal Barrier Coating

Abstract: La2O3-Y2O3-ZrO2 (LaYSZ) green composite ceramic powder was prepared by converse chemical coprecipitation method. The powder was conglomerated and heata2treated to be suitable for plasma spraying. The chemical compositions, microstructures, flowability and apparent density, phase stability at high temperatures were analyzed by means of inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometre (ICP-AES), scanning electron microscope (SEM), hall flowmeter, X-ray diffraction, respectively. The results show that the green composite powder presents tetragonal ZrO2 phase structure at room temperature. After heat-treated at 1150 or 2h, the conglomerated powder with spherical shape and dense surface exhibits good flowability, which can be used for plasma spraying. After heat-treated at 1300 or 100h, LaYSZ still keeps single tetragonal ZrO2 structure, while 12mol% tetragonal phase of 8YSZ transforms to monoclinic phase. After heat-treatment at 1400 or 100h, the amount of monoclinic phase in LaYSZ is of 2mol%, and that in the 8YSZ is of 47mol%. It shows that La2O3, Y2O3 co-doped ZrO2 exhibits better phase stability than single Y2O3-doped ZrO2.

Carrier Injection and Scattering in Atomically Thin Chalcogenides

Abstract: Atomically thin two-dimensional chalcogenides such as MoS2 monolayers are structurally ideal channel materials for the ultimate atomic electronics. However, a heavy thickness dependence of electrical performance is shown in these ultrathin materials, and the device performance normally degrades while exhibiting a low carrier mobility as compared with corresponding bulks, constituting a main hurdle for application in electronics. In this brief review, we summarize our recent work on electrode/channel contacts and carrier scattering mechanisms to address the origins of this adverse thickness dependence. Extrinsically, the Schottky barrier height increases at the electrode/channel contact area in thin channels owing to bandgap expansion caused by quantum confinement, which hinders carrier injection and degrades device performance. Intrinsically, thin channels tend to suffer from intensified Coulomb impurity scattering, resulting from the reduced interaction distance between interfacial impurities and channel carriers. Both factors are responsible for the adverse dependence of carrier mobility on channel thickness in two-dimensional semiconductors.
