A Fast Fourth-Order Method for 3D Helmholtz Equation with Neumann Boundary  [PDF]

Abstract: We present fast fourth-order finite difference scheme for 3D Helmholtz equation with Neumann boundary condition. We employ the discrete Fourier transform operator and divide the problem into some independent subproblems. By means of the Gaussian elimination in the vertical direction, the problem is reduced into a small system on the top layer of the domain. The procedure for solving the numerical solutions is accelerated by the sparsity of Fourier operator under the space complexity of O(M3). Furthermore, the method makes it possible to solve the 3D Helmholtz equation with large grid number. The accuracy and efficiency of the method are validated by two test examples which have exact solutions.
Metacognitive Strategy Training and Vocabulary Learning of Chinese College Students

Abstract: This paper attempts to tap the relationship between metacognitive strategy training and vocabulary learning of college students through a five week training program. It aims to answer the following question: Can metacognitive strategy training facilitate vocabulary learning of Chinese college students? Both questionnaire and tests were used in the study. One hundred and thirty-four students participated in the study; one class of 68 which received both cognitive vocabulary training and metacognitive training comprised the experimental group; the other class of 66 students served as the control group and received only cognitive strategy training without metacognitive component. The metacognitive strategy training for vocabulary learning of these students proved to be effective. The experimental group outperformed the control group in the post-training vocabulary test and the questionnaire displayed in what aspects the students improved on these metacognitive strategies.
The Game Analysis of Manufacturers’ Political Connections on Product Safety in Supply Chain: Evidence from China

Abstract: This paper studied the political connections on product safety in supply chain. In market economy, information asymmetry exists throughout the entirety of supply chains that ought to ensure product safety. Due to the existence of game relations between the government and manufacturers in the aspects of product safety and regulation, the formation of market equilibrium depends on political connections between the government and manufacturers. Based on study and analyses of a static game model and a dynamic game model, this paper reveals that governments and manufacturers must use positive political connections to achieve product protection and supervision of safety throughout the supply chain. On the other hand, negative political connections lead to losses of both governmental credibility and social profits. This study indicates that inherent mechanism of political connections exists in the supply chain; it will help to enrich the theory of supply chain. 1. Introduction Product safety is an issue of utmost importance all around the world and it is related to the supply chain in its entirety. The situation brings some new problems to traditional supply chain [1]. As the world’s second largest economy, with frequent international business and a large population, China considers product safety a top priority. Product safety affects not only national credibility and the credibility of companies but also the important basic commitments of a nation and its enterprises for users. However, because of information asymmetry, product users require product manufacturers to be highly disciplined and require strict supervision and management of government departments. “Product” refers to everything available in the market that can meet the specific needs of people, including in-kind, service assurance, ideas, and other forms. “Security” refers to the conditions that prevent death, injury, occupational diseases, equipment damage, property damage, and environmental damage. Ensuring the safety of products first depends on sound laws and regulations. In addition, government departments must work with the law, enforce the law, properly regulate rules, and abandon favoritism or irregularities. Second, the manufacturers should develop and enforce their own techniques for ensuring production quality, sustaining the self-regulation of the industry, and maintaining the professional ethics of the employed. A group decision making methodbased on double hesitant linguistic preference relations

Abstract: A simple decision method is proposed to solve the group decision making problems in which the weights of decision organizations are unknown and the preferences for alternatives are provided by double hesitant linguistic preference relations. First, double hesitant linguistic elements are defined as representing the uncertain assessment information in the process of group decision making accurately and comprehensively, and the double hesitant linguistic weighted averaging operator is developed based on the defined operational laws for double hesitant linguistic elements. Then, double hesitant linguistic preference relations are defined and a means to objectively determine the weights of decision organizations is put forward using the standard deviation of scores of preferences provided by the individual decision organization for alternatives. Finally the correlation coefficient between the scores of preferences and the scores of preferences are provided by the other decision organizations. Accordingly, a group decision method based on double hesitant linguistic preference relations is proposed, and a practical example of the Jiudianxia reservoir operation alternative selection is used to illustrate the practicability and validity of the method. Finally, the proposed method is compared with the existing methods. Comparative results show that the proposed method can deal with the double hesitant linguistic preference information directly, does not need any information transformation, and can thus reduce the loss of original decision information.
High-Order Finite Difference Method for Helmholtz Equation in Polar Coordinates  [PDF]

We present a fourth-order finite difference scheme for the Helmholtz equation in polar coordinates. We employ the finite difference format in the interior of the region and derive a nine-point fourth-order scheme. Specially, ghost points outside the region are applied to obtain the approximation for the Neumann boundary condition. We obtain the matrix form of the linear system and the sparsity of the coefficient matrix is favorable for the computation of the Helmholtz equation. The feasibility and accuracy of the method are validated by two test examples which have exact solutions.
Test Method of Laser Detection Sensitivity Based on Every Pulse Measurement and Rearrangement  [PDF]

It is very important to accurately measure the detection sensitivity of laser receiving equipment. Based on the traditional test method of detection probability curve, a new test method is proposed which works through measuring laser pulse one by one. Accurate measurement systems were constructed to improve the accuracy of laser energy measurement and energy regulation. A new data processing method of detection probability curve is put forward, which based on subsection statistics. The new data processing method in effect reduces the light source instability from 6.57% to 0.67%. These works improve the test accuracy of laser receiving detection sensitivity. It is a great support for the accurate evaluation of key technical indices of laser receiving equipment, which subsequently are done by models and simulation.

Abstract: In this paper, we propose two supply chain inventory models with controllable lead time, the first is proposed under centralized decision mode and the other is proposed under decentralized decision mode. The solution procedures are also suggested to get the optimal solutions. In addition, taking individual rationality into consideration, Shapely value method and MCRS method are used to coordinate the benefits of the vendor and the buyer. Numerical example is given to illustrate the results of the proposed models.

Golden mussel Limnoperna fortunei(Dunker 1857) is a filter-collector species of fresh water mussel originating from southern China. In the water transfer tunnels from the East River to Shenzhen and Hong Kong, golden mussels attach to the walls of pipelines and gates, causing serious biofouling, increased flow resistance, and resulted in corrosion of the tunnel wall. Golden mussel has very high environmental adaptability and may colonize habitats with low dissolved oxygen and a wide range of trophic levels. The colonization process of the species on solid surface was studied in the Xizhijiang River, a tributary of the East River and the main water resource of Shenzhen from March 2010 to April 2011. The results showed that the golden mussel completed three generations and reproduced six cohorts per year in the tropic zone. Water temperature was the controlling factor for the growth rate and maturity of each cohort. Based on the results, an ecological method for controlling the invasion of golden mussels in water transfer tunnels was proposed.

Abstract: Gossypium arboreum (2n = 26, A2) is a diploid species with limited production in acreage com-pared with G. hirsutum and G. barbadense. However, its unique traits such as insect and disease resistance contribute an important germplasm to cotton breeding. So polyploid manipulation for G. arboreum is an effective approach of germplasm development. This research focused on tetraploid induction of G. arboreum by colchicine. Morphology and cytology identifications for obtained mutants were also conducted. The seedling growth and development of all mutants was more stunted than controls. According to preliminary morphological characteristics, mutant rates in different treatment were statistically estimated and the highest mutant rate was 42.31% under the treatment of 0.1% colchicine for 24 hours. The chromosome number of most mutants was 2n = 4x = 52, while the chromosome number of diploid controls was 2n = 2x = 26 by cytology observation of root tip cells. By microscope observation of low leaf epidermis, there were significant differences for stoma area between tetraploids and diploids. The meiosis behavior of the induced tetraploid was much more complex than that of the diploid. At diakinesis, some univalent, trivalent and polyvalent were also observed besides bivalent and quadrivalent. There were different kinds of polyad in tetraspore period of mutants. The dissociate chromosomes existed during metaphase I and II, the unbalance separation of chromosomes existed during anaphase I and II. As a result, tetraploid mutants of G. arboreum were identified and their desirable traits would be further evaluated to incorporate into next breeding program.
