Heterogeneity Involved Network-based Algorithm Leads to Accurate and Personalized Recommendations

Abstract: Heterogeneity of both the source and target objects is taken into account in a network-based algorithm for the directional resource transformation between objects. Based on a biased heat conduction recommendation method (BHC) which considers the heterogeneity of the target object, we propose a heterogeneous heat conduction algorithm (HHC), by further taking the source object degree as the weight of diffusion. Tested on three real datasets, the Netflix, RYM and MovieLens, the HHC algorithm is found to present a better recommendation in both the accuracy and personalization than two excellent algorithms, i.e., the original BHC and a hybrid algorithm of heat conduction and mass diffusion (HHM), while not requiring any other accessorial information or parameter. Moreover, the HHC even elevates the recommendation accuracy on cold objects, referring to the so-called cold start problem, for effectively relieving the recommendation bias on objects with different level of popularity.

Abstract: 研究了Ad hoc网络的特点及应用情况,分析了在Ad hoc网络中传统数据流多连接查询处理策略所面临的问题,并在此基础上提出了一种基于大纲的多数据流连接优化算法(SMJ)。实验结果显示SMJ算法可以极大降低Ad hoc网络数据流连接查询处理的通信代价。

Expression, purification and crystallization of gas vesicle structure protein GvpC from the cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa

Abstract: 对GvpC进行了初步晶体学研究。首先对GvpC进行分子克隆,利用原核表达系统在体外进行异源表达;结合变复性和凝胶过滤层析的方法纯化GvpC;通过圆二色谱的方法鉴定GvpC的复性效果;运用坐滴蒸汽扩散法进行晶体初筛。结果表明:GvpC在大肠杆菌表达系统中表达为包涵体;通过变复性和凝胶过滤层析能纯化出纯度较高的蛋白;圆二色谱证实复性后的GvpC形成了正确的二级结构,复性效果较佳;通过晶体初筛获得了GvpC的晶体,后续即可通过解析GvpC的晶体结构而获得其三维结构。
Preliminary crystallographic study on the gas vesicle structure protein GvpC from the cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa was performed. Firstly, gene gvpC was cloned and expressed; then, the recombinant protein was purified by denaturation and renaturation and gel filtration chromatography; the result of renaturation was detected by circular dichroism. Crystal screening was performed by sitting drop vapor diffusion techniques. GvpC was overexpressed as inclusion body in E. coli, and then the protein has been purified through denaturation and renaturation. The result of circular dichroism indicated that GvpC was refolded successfully in vitro. Crystals of GvpC were also obtained by crystal screening. Hence, the three-dimensional structure of GvpC could be determinated by solving its crystal structure.

Abstract: 摘要: 铜绿微囊藻(Microcystisaeruginosa PCC 7806)是我国淡水湖泊生态系统季节性蓝藻水华爆发的最优势藻种,其爆发的机制之一在于气囊,它是一种充满气体的蛋白质性质的亚细胞器结构,可为藻细胞提供浮力,调节藻细胞在水体中的位置以利于生长和后续的生境殖民化。铜绿微囊藻的气囊合成涉及14个气囊蛋白,但大部分气囊蛋白在气囊合成过程中的具体分子功能尚不清楚。对其中一个气囊蛋白GvpW进行了分子克隆,利用原核表达系统在体外进行了异源表达,结合镍柱亲和层析和凝胶过滤层析纯化出了高纯度的GvpW,运用动态光散射和化学交联证实在体外纯化后的GvpW是呈单体状态,同时通过晶体初筛和优化获得了生长较好的蛋白质晶体。这为后续解析GvpW的三维结构及在分子水平直观探讨其在气囊合成中的生理功能奠定了基础。
Abstract: Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806 is the most dominant algae of seasonal outbreak cyanobacteria bloom in fresh water lake ecosystem of China. One of the outbreak mechanisms for the occurrence of cyanobacterial water-bloom is gas vesicles, which are gas-filled proteinaceous organelles and provide varying buoyancy for cyanobacteria to regulate the position for growth and subsequent colonization. The gas vesicle of M. aeruginosa is composed of 14 gas vesicles proteins, but it is still unclear what the specific molecular functions of most Gvp proteins are during the process of gas vesicle synthesis. In this study, a gvpW gene was cloned and heterologous expressed in Escherichia coli, and the recombinant protein was purified by Ni2+ affinity chromatography and gel filtration. Dynamic light scattering and chemical crosslinking analyses showed that the recombinant protein GvpW mainly existed as monomer in vitro. In addition, GvpW protein crystals were obtained by crystal screening and optimization. These results provide a basis for further studies on its three-dimensional structure determination and molecular functions
A Review on Application of Odor Removal Technology in Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants

Abstract: The development of odor-control technology currently used in domestic and overseas was reviewed in this paper, various technique used to control the odor gases generated from municipal wastewater treatment plants were introduced, and the advantages and disadvantages of each present method of removal technology were compared. The compared result indicated that water washing and spewing was easy to do but had low removal rate. The method of chemical absorbing and active carbon can remove most of the odors, but the expense is also very high. Biotechnology was economical and effective. It can keep high removal rate with no secondary contamination and will be extensive applied in the ordor treatment of municipal wastewater treatment plants in future.
Analytic Solution for Steady Slip Flow between Parallel Plates with Micro-Scale Spacing

Abstract: The Navier-Stokes equations for slip flow between two very closely spaced parallel plates are transformed to an ordinary differential equation based on the pressure gradient along the flow direction using a new similarity transformation. A powerful easy-to-use homotopy analysis method was used to obtain an analytical solution. The convergence theorem for the homotopy analysis method is presented. The solutions show that the second-order homotopy analysis method solution is accurate enough for the current problem.

Abstract: A new polyketide compound 1 and a new naturally occurring chromone derivative 2, along with two known indole alkaloids 3–4 were characterized from the ethyl acetate extract of a soil-derived fungal strain, Exophiala pisciphila PHF-9. The structures of compounds 1–4 were established by detailed spectroscopic analysis and comparison with literature data. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined by a modified Mosher’s method. Compound 1 exhibited moderate cytotoxicity against A-549, Hela, PANC-28 and BEL-7402 cell lines.
Study on the Biofilm Characteristics in Biotricking Filter Treating Odour Gas with Large Flow and Low Concentration

Abstract: 采用内装塑料片、塑料丝、海绵块的中空鱼网状塑料球为填料的生物滴滤池,对某垃圾压缩站产生的低浓度大风量的含氨臭气进行了近1年的连续脱臭试验。研究了有关的净化效果与生物膜特性。在进口氨气浓度0.8mg/m3~1.5mg/m3,风量8000m3/h,停留时间2.5s,氨气去除率为90%以上,达到国家一级排放水平。系统添加营养液时净化效果从75%提高到90%。3种填料的生物膜量、脱氢酶活性及硝化活性速率的排列顺序是:塑料片>塑料丝>海绵,并从工艺及填料方面探讨进一步提高净化效果的技术措施。
Recent Developments in Biological Waste Gas Purification

Abstract: Biological treatment provides an cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative for many waste gas emissions.Biological waste air treatment is achieved at ambient temperatures,it does not generate secondary pollutants,such as nitrogen oxides,it has become in many instances the method of choice for the control of low concentrations of odors,volatile organic compounds,or hazardous air pollutants in large air streams.A significant body of knowledge and experience has been generated on biological waste gas purification.Examples of waste gas treatment are presented in this paper,such as at municipal wastewater treatment plants,emission from live stock industries,sulfur emissions from industries.This paper discusses the problem of how to prevent biomass clogging and introduces the application of molecular biotechnology in biologeical treatment.The development trend of the Biological treatment are discussed.We hope the biological treatments can gain widely application in China.
