Nicotine enhances migration and invasion of human esophageal squamous carcinoma cells which is inhibited by nimesulide

Abstract: AIM: To study the effect of nicotine on the migration and invasion of human esophageal squamous carcinoma cells and to investigate whether nimesulide can inhibit the effect of nicotine.METHODS: The esophageal squamous carcinoma cell line (TE-13) was treated with different concentrations of nicotine (100 μg/mL and 200 μg/mL) or 200 μg/mL nicotine plus 100 μmol/L nimesulide. Cell migration and invasion were measured using migration and invasion chamber systems. COX-2 expression was determined by Western blotting. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) was analyzed by zymography and ELISA.RESULTS: Nicotine (100 μg/mL, 200 μg/mL) enhanced TE-13 cells migration and invasion, and increased the protein expression of COX-2 and the activity of MMP-2. Nicotine (200 μg/mL) stimulated TE-13 cells migration and invasion which were partly blocked by nimesulide. This was associated with decreased protein expression of COX-2 and decreased activity and protein expression of MMP-2.CONCLUSION: Nicotine enhances the migration and invasion of the esophageal squamous carcinoma cell line, and nimesulide partly blocks the effect of nicotine-enhanced esophageal squamous carcinoma cell migration and invasion.
Association between gastric cancer and -1993 polymorphism of TBX21 gene

Abstract: AIM: To investigate the association between the polymorphism of TBX21 gene and the risk of gastric cancer in a Chinese population. METHODS: The -1993 polymorphism located in TBX21 gene promoter region was identified by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. The risk between TBX21 gene genotype and gastric cancer was determined by multivariate logistic regression analysis in 220 gastric cancer patients and 262 cancer-free controls matched by age, sex and ethnicity. RESULTS: Compared with the TBX21 -1993TT genotype, the -1993CC genotype exhibited a significantly elevated risk for gastric cancer [Odds ratio (OR) = 3.42, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.41-8.31]. The relationship between the -1993 polymorphic genotype and the invasive status such as lymph node and distant metastasis was found among the gastric cancer patients (OR = 4.02, 95% CI: 1.87-8.66; OR = 7.02, 95% CI: 3.44-14.34, respectively). CONCLUSION: TBX21 -1993 polymorphism might contribute to the risk of gastric cancer, especially to the distant metastasis.
Cyathane diterpenoids from fruiting bodies of Phellodon niger

Abstract: Four new cyathane-type diterpenoids, nigernins C-F (1–4), together with four known compounds, were isolated from the fruiting bodies of the basidiomycete Phellodon niger. The structures of these new compounds were established on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D NMR experiments. In addition, nigernin F (4) with an unusual 3,4-seco cyathane diterpenoid skeleton was found to occur in nature for the first time. It was suggested to be as an oxidation product of C-3-C-4 bond cleavage of nigernin E (3).
Effect of Tunneling Current on Schottky Barrier Height in ZnO Varistors at Low Temperature

Abstract: On the basis of the Schottky barrier and thermionic emission models, the temperature dependence of barrier height in ZnO varistors is investigated by the I-V characteristics in a wide temperature range from 93K to 373K. The obtained barrier height decreases with reducing temperature, which is ascribed to the contribution of tunneling current in measured current. From the proposed equivalent circuit, it is suggested that two current components coexist. One is thermionic emission current, which reflects the thermionic emission barrier height. The other is tunneling current, which appears even at low voltage, especially in low temperature ranges, and thus makes the barrier height obtained from measured current vary with temperature.

Abstract: The corrosion of tubes and tube sheets for a chlorine gas condenser in a chemical plant was studied using industrial computer tomography(ICT).ICT can not only detect whether are there gaps or interstices,but also quantitatively describe their size,shape and position.The ICT scan results indicated that the joint zone of the condenser baffle,condenser tubes and the welds are the sites suffered from serious corrosion damage.The condenser baffle in the side of brine presents a honeycombed surface and the pitting corrosion in the side of chlorine is much serious than that in the side of brine.ICT can effectively evaluate the corrosion of materials.
A new method for investigating the conduction of ZnO-based varistor ceramics

Abstract: 在-180?℃—100?℃温度范围内研究了ZnO-Bi2O3二元、ZnO-Bi2O3-MnO三元以及商用ZnO压敏陶瓷的I-V特性.研究发现:二元试样电导由散射电导串联构成;三元试样电导由热电子发射电导混联构成;商用试样电导由热电子发射电导和隧道效应电导并联构成.对整个电流范围内的电导拟合表明:通过同一温度下电导分量同电流的关系,可以计算出该部分电导对应的非线性指数.在商用试样中,隧道电流产生的非线性指数为33,与实测值接近;该隧穿分量在小电流区也存在,且在低温下表现地更为明显.
Distribution Behaviors of Vanadium between Hot Metal and FeO-SiO2-MnO(-TiO2) Slag System and Influential Factors

Abstract: 实验研究了V在FeO-SiO2-MnO(-TiO2)渣系与铁液间的分配行为,以及温度、渣成分、渣铁比、铁水初始Si]、Ti]含量的影响趋势. 结果表明,在FeO-SiO2-MnO渣系中,铁水中V的入渣率、V在渣-金两相的分配比以及渣的钒容量均随温度升高而降低,而铁水中C的氧化损失随温度升高而增加;渣铁比较低的情况下,V的入渣率明显降低,但两种渣铁比的情况下,V的最大入渣率均落在MnO含量13%~25%,SiO2含量12%~24%的成分范围内. 在FeO-SiO2-MnO-TiO2渣系中,随渣中TiO2含量增加,铁水中V的入渣率、V在渣-金两相的分配比以及渣的钒容量随之降低,V2O3在渣中的活度系数随TiO2含量升高而升高. 实验条件下,各因素对铁水中V的入渣率的影响程度按以下顺序依次降低:终渣成分>温度>铁水初始Si]、Ti]等元素含量.

Abstract: 采用自制的腐蚀监测探头,利用交流阻抗技术监测了碳钢在我国青岛海洋大气中的腐蚀行为,腐蚀监测探头是由环氧树脂密封的两个相同大小的长方形碳钢片组成,监测了腐蚀探头溶液电阻(Rs)、极化电阻(Rp)等参数,利用Stern-Geary公式由Rp计算了钢材的腐蚀速度,研究了腐蚀速度与温度、相对湿度的关系.结果表明:温度和相对湿度是影响钢材大气腐蚀的重要因素之一;相对湿度越大,碳钢的腐蚀速度越大;当相对湿度低于碳钢的临界相对湿度时,温度对腐蚀速度几乎没有影响,如果高于其临界相对湿度时,温度升高,腐蚀速度加快;从监测的Rp值变化情况可以看出大气腐蚀是一个非常复杂和不稳定的过程.

Abstract: Poly (Vinyl Chloride-Co-Isobutyl Vinyl Ether) (PVCCIVE) with rutile and anatase nano-TiO2 was investigated with XPS before and after UV light exposure respectively. The results indicate that the elements such as Chlorine and Oxygen in the PVCCIVE resin are rich in the surface, namely skin effect, in contrast, Titanium and Carbon are rich in the inner. Meanwhile, the smaller the pigment particles, the higher the content in the surface. The results also show that the rutile nano-TiO2 is excellent in UV screening and reduces the ageing of resin, while the anatase nano-TiO2 is highly active in photo catalysis and accelerates the ageing of resin. Hence then, rutile nano-TiO2 is a kind of promising UV absorber.
