Measurements of human vision contrast sensitivity to opposite colors using a cathode ray tube display

Abstract: The contrast definitions of opposite colors red-green and blue-yellow, which have been described in the CIELAB and YCrCb color spaces, respectively, and a method to accurately control chroma and color differences on a cathode ray tube screen are presented according to the color display characteristics of cathode ray tubes. Using target gratings on a cathode ray tube screen, measurements of human vision contrast sensitivity to red-green and blue-yellow colors for 10 spatial frequencies (0.41, 0.82, 1.23, 1.97, 3.08, 3.79, 4.93, 7.04, 9.86 and 16.43 cpd) were carried out in 11 young observers in a dark environment. Contrast sensitivity functions of opposite colors were obtained, which can be used for practical applications in image technologies.
Pressure-induced phase transitions of multiferroic BiFeO3

Abstract: Pressure-induced phase transitions of multiferroic BiFeO3 have been investigated using synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction with diamond anvil cell technique at room temperature. Present experimental data clearly show that rhombohedral (R3c) phase of BiFeO3 first transforms to monoclinic (C2/m) phase at 7 GPa, then to orthorhombic (Pnma) phase at 11 GPa, which is consistent with recent theoretical ab initio calculation. However, we observe another peak at 2{\theta}=7{\deg} in the pressure range of 5-7 GPa that has not been reported previously. Further analysis reveals that this reflection peak is attributed to the orthorhombic (Pbam) phase, indicating the coexisting of monoclinic phase with orthorhombic phase in low pressure range.
Fractionations of rare earth elements in plants and their conceptive model

Abstract: Fractionations of rare earth elements (REEs) and their mechanisms in soybean were studied through application of exogenous mixed REEs under hydroponic conditions. Significant enrichment of middle REEs (MREEs) and heavy REEs (HREEs) was observed in plant roots and leaves respectively, with slight fractionation between light REEs (LREEs) and HREEs in stems. Moreover, the tetrad effect was observed in these organs. Investigations into REE speciation in roots and in the xylem sap using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and nanometer-sized TiO2 adsorption techniques, associated with other controlled experiments, demonstrated that REE fractionations should be dominated by fixation mechanism in roots caused by cell wall absorption and phosphate precipitation, and by the combined effects of fixation mechanism and transport mechanism in aboveground parts caused by solution complexation by intrinsic organic ligands. A conceptive model was established for REE fractionations in plants based on the above studies.

Abstract: 利用亲和色谱,在模拟人体生理环境下(37 ℃、pH 7.4),采用竞争置换法研究了丹皮酚(PAE)与固定化人血清白蛋白(HSA)的相互作用。通过对PAE的自我竞争分析及PAE与HSA上结合位点的标记物间的竞争置换分析,得到了PAE和HSA间的结合常数、结合位点数和结合域。结果表明: PAE在HSA分子中仅存在一类结合位点,结合常数为4.84×103 L/mol,该结合位点为HSA上的Sudlow siteII;通过对PAE与HSA相互作用的热力学研究,推断出二者间的作用力类型为氢键或范德华力。
Non-line-of-sight polarized single-scatter propagation model for noncoplanar geometries

Abstract: The classical model of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) single-scatter propagation for coplanar geometries was recently extended to include noncoplanar geometries; the calculation processes in the extended model are partly based on the Cartesian coordinate system and are somewhat complicated. A new NLOS single-scatter propagation model for noncoplanar geometries is presented based only on the prolate spheroidal coordinate system, which can be considered as the simplified version of the extended model mentioned above. Similar to the polarization-extension of the Monte-Carlo-based multiple-scatter model, the new single-scatter model for noncoplanar geometries is also extended to take polarization into account; the polarized single-scatter model is validated by the Monte-Carlo-based polarized model, results show perfect match. The theoretical feasibility of a 2-polarization UV communication link is validated based on the polarized single-scatter model.

Effects of over-expression of TLR2 in transgenic goats on pathogen clearance and role of up-regulation of lysozyme secretion and infiltration of inflammatory cells

Abstract: Capra hircus TLR2 over-expression vector (p3S-LoxP-TLR2) was used to generate transgenic goats by egg microinjection. The integration efficiency was 8.57%. Real-time PCR and immunohistochemical results confirmed that the goats over-expressing the TLR2 gene (Tg) expressed more TLR2 than wild-type goats (WT). Monocyte-macrophages from the bloodstreams of transgenic goats were stimulated with synthetic bacterial lipoprotein (Pam3CSK4) and by the promotion of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IL-10 expression in vitro. The oxidative damage was significantly reduced, and lysozyme (LZM) secretion was found to be up-regulated. Ear tissue samples from transgenic goats that had been stimulated with Pam3CSK4 via hypodermic injection showed that transgenic individuals can undergo the inflammation response very quickly.Over-expression of TLR2 was found to decrease radical damage to host cells through low-level production of NO and MDA and to promote the clearance of invasive bacteria by up-regulating lysozyme secretion and filtration of inflammatory cells to the infected site.Most gram-positive bacteria, such as Bacillus anthracis, M. tuberculosis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Clostridiumtetani, are harmful. They cause a wide range of diseases in both immunocompetent and immunocompromized hosts. Many of them can cause serious health problems in goats. These include mastitis, erysipelas, listeriosis, anthrax, encephalitis, and spontaneous abortion. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are type I trans-membrane proteins. They are ligands of a large number of endogenous and exogenous targets. TLR2 is considered the main pattern receptor of various gram-positive bacteria—including mycobacteria, viruses, and their products [1]. TLR2 can form heterodimers with both TLR1 and TLR6. These heterodimers play a key role in innate immunity by binding pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMP) and causing an inflammatory cascade reaction [2]. Abstract: 煤矸石是主要的煤系固废,其中氧化铝的含量占到25%左右,又是一种可以利用的资源.本实验以山西潞安煤矿的煤矸石为原料,采用正交试验的方法,研究了盐酸作为酸浸介质浸取煤矸石中氧化铝.主要影响因素为煅烧温度、酸量、固液比及酸浸时间,最佳工艺条件为:煅烧温度为650℃,酸量为225mL(按照煤矸石中氧化铝和盐酸反应的摩尔比为1:6计)、固液比为1:3、酸浸时间为3 h,单因素重复试验结果和正交实验的结果相符,在最佳条件下,氧化铝的溶出实验验证结果表明,三氧化二铝溶出率为71.49%.本研究对实现煤矸石的资源化综合利用具有重要的意义.
