Comparative Epigenetic Analyses of Acute and Chronic Leukemia  [PDF]

Abstract:

Comparative analysis of epigenetic alterations between acute vs. chronic leukemia, with an emphasis on histone modifications, was conducted. We focus on the promoter regions of the whole genomes as well as oncogenes. Our results revealed that obvious differential histone modifications pattern exists between the two subtypes. H3K27ac has a high tag density in the promoter region in both Dnd41 cell lines and K562 cell lines. H3K27ac and H3K4me1 have high correlation between the two cell lines of oncogenes. Similar results were also achieved in the promoter region of high expression genes in the Jurkat and K562 cell lines based on RNA-seq data. This suggests that H2K27ac and H3K4me1 are active regulators in leukemia cell lines.

Abstract:
The performance analysis of Nth worst relay selection for the full-duplex (FD) mode over Nakagami-m fading channels is studied. We assume the relay employs the amplify-and-forward (AF) protocol. The closed-form expres-sions for the outage performance in terms of the received signal-to-noise ratio cumulative distribution function are derived. In the high signal-to-noise ratio regime, asymptotic outage probability is also investigated. Based on these expressions, the effect of several important network parameters, i.e., the number of relays and the order of selected relay, as well as the quality of the relay links, source-relay links, relay-destination links, are analytically characterized. Finally, numerical results are provided to verify and illustrate our mathematical analysis.
Research on the Mechanism of University Think Tanks Influencing Public Policy Process in New Media Environment—A Case Study of “The Belt and Road” Initiative  [PDF]

Abstract: As a critical component of Chinese think tanks, university think tanks of China have become an important bridge between policy communication and academic research for their professional research capacities and positive social influence. Hence, university think tanks, which have significant influences in the research field of “the Belt and Road” policy, were selected as the subject of this paper, in which their research orientations, research findings, and academic trends are analyzed from the perspective of new media. On this basis, the participation mechanism of university think tanks in “the Belt and Road” policy field is summarized according to the research features and functions of different types of university think tanks, such as think tanks established by comprehensive universities, foreign studies universities, or other local universities. The research findings reveal that university think tanks tend to spread their opinions and suggestions to the public or decision makers through various media methods (e.g. website, microblog, WeChat, forum construction, and news reports), mainly aiming at influencing public opinions and decisions. Furthermore, new media and university think tanks can have effective communication with the public and the government in accordance with their specific features, thus creating a mutually accessible and influential policy network structure. In this network structure, media exposure and public opinions become the problem flow during the research on “the Belt and Road” policy. Then, university think tanks and media comments put forward feasible solutions in response to relevant problems, thus forming the policy flow. Next, related policy suggestions driven by public opinions and social interest groups will become a political flow to affect policy activists. Eventually, strategic decisions will be made, realizing the expression of public opinions and the communication of policy output.

Abstract:
Words of Three Kinds depict both the writing style of the Zhuangzi and an especially useful way to interpret it. Yuyan shows the instability of meanings expressed; Zhongyan shows the truth revealed is no definite truth; Zhiyan justifies every interpretation. The analysis of words of three kinds implies Zhuangzi’s writing mode might be speaking reckless words, forgetting the words but continuing to speak, urging readers to listen recklessly, embrace all the interpretations, perspectives and values, living a life beyond dichotomy and creating new meanings in their lives.

Abstract: In this work, the average mean (TAvg), maximum (TMax), and minimum temperature (TMin) and precipitation records of Qingdao from 1899 to 2015 are analyzed. The TAvg, TMax and TMin all go through several warm and cold periods, and exhibit statistically significant linear warming trend especially in spring and winter, as a response to global warming. Besides, the TAvg reflects more the TMin evolution for the most part, either as a trend or an abrupt change, and the contribution of TMin to Tavg is far greater than that of TMax. The abrupt change year of climate is also around 1979 in Qingdao, and it is 2 or 3-years later than the TAvg for the TMin, while there is no abrupt change of TMax. In terms of the precipitation in Qingdao, it varies periodically and dramatically with a slow increasing trend. As for the seasonal precipitation, the precipitation varies widely year by year for the four seasons but with no obvious variation trend except for spring.
