Rheological Properties of Five Plant Gums  [PDF]

Abstract: The rheological properties of five gum solutions (Gum Shiraz, Karaya Gum, Ghatti Gum, Arabic Gum and Gum Tragacanth) have been examined. The five mucilage solutions exhibited non-Newtonian, shear-thinning with thixotropy at higher concentrations (0.5% - 1%, m/v). According to the change of viscosity with increasing temperature, all five gums could be defined as three types: gum tragacanth and gum shiraz have a good temperature stability; karaya gum is affected by temperature obviously; the remaining two gums have a general stability. The viscosity of mucilage solutions (Arabic Gum, Ghatti Gum and Karaya Gum) had an apparent dependence on temperature. The parameter n of Shiraz Gum is the minimum, which means it has the best flow properties. The flow activation energy of karaya gum is 2.683 kcal which is the highest than other gums so that it has a great influence on temperature. The gum solutions’ viscosity had different sensitive degree over tested pH range (pH 2 - 10). Shiraz gum and arabic gum possessed better acid-proof and alkali-proof respectively. The addition of salts (NaCl and CaCl2) led to the reduction of viscosity, which was more sensitive to Ca2+ than to Na+. Both storage modulus G’ and loss modulus G” of all five gums had a dependence on temperature and frequency. These results are potentially useful for the application in the field of food processing.

Abstract: Inevitable conflicts in the workplace have dual effects on organizations. How to manage conflicts and make it play a constructive role in the organization is of great importance to the success of the organization. It is also one of the necessary management skills for managers. In order to enable managers to face up to conflicts, learn to manage conflicts in the right way, and play a constructive role in the organization. This paper studies conflict and conflict management behaviors by means of literature research. Firstly, this paper defines the meaning of conflict management and clarifies the specific content of conflict management. Then it reviews and analyses the research on conflict management by scholars at home and abroad. Finally, it points out the shortcomings of current research on conflict management, and briefly looks forward to the future development of conflict management research.
Expression of PAH-DNA Adducts in Lung Tissues of Xuanwei Female Lung Cancer Patients

Abstract: Background and objective The coal-fired pollution in Xuanwei area has been considered to be local main reason for high incidence of female lung cancer. The aim of this study is to explore the expression of PAH-DNA adducts in lung tissues of Xuanwei female lung cancer patients and to explore the relationship between the large number of coal-fired pollution PAHs materials and the high incidence of Xuanwei female lung cancer. Methods We totally collected each 20 cases of Xuanwei female lung cancer patients, Xuanwei male lung cancer patients, Non-Xuanwei female lung cancer patients and collect each 10 cases of Xuanwei, Non-Xuanwei female patients with benign lung lesions. The cancer tissues, adjacent cancer tissues and normal lung tissues were collected in lung cancer patients and only the normal tissues were collected in benign lung lesion patients. There were total 80 cases and 200 tissues. Immunofluorescence was used to detect the expression of PAHDNA adducts in each group. Image pro-plus 6.0 software was used to analyze the images and part quantified analysis. SPSS 13.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data. Results The positive expression of PAH-DNA adducts in lung cancer tissues, adjacent cancer tissues and normal lung tissues of Xuanwei female lung cancer patients were 90%, 80% and 65%. They were higher than the positive expression of PAH-DNA adducts in Xuanwei male lung cancer patients (35%, 30%, 30%) and Non-Xuanwei female lung cancer patients (20%, 15%, 10%)(P < 0.01). The expressions in lung tissues of Xuanwei female benign lung lesion patients (positive expression is 70%) were higher than it in Non-Xuanwei female benign lung lesion patients (positive expression is 10%). With the direction changing from cancer tissues, adjacent cancer tissues to normal lung tissues, the expressions of PAH-DNA adducts were decreased but had no statistical difference (P>0.05). Conclusion The expressions of PAHDNA adducts in lung tissues of Xuanwei female were higher than which in Xuanwei male and Non-Xuanwei female.
Effects of selenium and reduced glutathione on the proliferation and apoptosis of XWLC-05 cell

Abstract: Background and objective Selenium is an essential micronutrient for mammals but toxic in large amounts. Most studies indicate that selenium has inhibitory effect on cancer. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of selenium and reduced glutathione (GSH) combined application on the proliferation and apoptosis of human lung adenocarcinoma cell line XWLC-05. Methods XWLC-05 cells were respectively treated in vitro by four factors (sodium selenite, GSH, sodium selenite+GSH and blank control (RMPI-1640 +10% calf serum) in different concentrations for 24 h. Cell growth inhibition rates were determined by MTT assay, cytomorphology was observed under inverted phase contrast microscope and changes of cell cycle were detected by Flow Cytometry (FCM). Results Both selenium and GSH individual on the XWLC-05 cells were found to possess obvious growth inhibition effect on the XWLC-05 cells. Selenium and GSH combined application on the XWLC-05 cells had cooperative inhibition effect (P<0.01). The inhibition rate was increased in a dose-dependent relationship as selenium with concentrations between (0.5-4.0) μg/mL (P<0.01) whether it was selenium single factors or selenium and GSH combined effect. FCM results showed that some XWLC-05 cells were induced apoptosis and G1 phase cells were markedly increased and S, G2/M phase cells decreased in both selenium individual groups and selenium and GSH combined groups. Conclusion Selenium and GSH combined application on XWLC-05 cells can enhance directly the cell growth inhibitory effect compared with selenium and GSH individual. The mechanism seems to inhibit the synthesis of RNA and protein and prevent cells from entering S phase.

Abstract: As the Stock index futures with Cri 300 index for the subject matter launch, the research to stock options done by China’s financial market is gradually in-depth, which has great significance to the improvement of the financial markets. With the Black-Scholes option formula, this paper attempts to study the sensitivity of single stock’ call option named Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited to stock price changes, time changes and the situation that both of them occur. The simulation results were achieved based SAS, which not only has a very important practical significance to the launch of this kind financial derivative and the establish of a perfect pricing model of financial derivatives, but also can help financial market further promote economic growth.

Purpose: to improve the college students enthusiasm to participate in physical training and thus enhance students physical fitness; to provide the reference for the education administrative departments decisions and further improving the college physical teaching in our city. Methods: the paper did analysis with the sample of 19 - 22 years old college students’ health monitoring data in 2009 in Chongqing, applying the method of percentiles to establish the physical attributes evaluation criterion of college students in Chongqing. Results: develop the score sheets of single physical attributes index evaluation, comprehensive evaluation and physical attributes evaluation form for the Han college students in Chongqing. Conclusion: the physical attributes score sheets, evaluation form are applicable to the college students in Chongqing, and they can be popularized to other universities in Chongqing.

Abstract: As an important social capital, construction and development of initial trust have been paid much attention. Trust violation, as a significant phenomenon, also begins to absorb many concerns. Studies of trust repair started late, and focused on sociology for analyzing trust crises during the social transition period in China, but seldom cared about individual and organizational levels. This paper, based on perspective of psychology, summarizes the definition, theoretical foundation and integrative model of trust, and discusses the trust violation, repair processes, repair strategies, the attribution model and dynamic bilateral model of trust repair, providing convenience for research in the individual or organizational level of trust repair.

Abstract: In recent years, as the carrier of technology innovation and technology industrialization, science-technology small and medium-sized enterprises (STS-ME) make big contribution to transformation of scientific and technological achievements, the industrial structure optimization, the high and new technology development, innovation/entrepreneurship and increasing employment opportunities. STSME has become an important growth point of economic development. However, support policies for STSME also face many problems as policies and regulations and public service system is not perfect, poor financial ecological environment, the relative lack of scientific and technological personnel, to some extent, which hinders the development of STS-ME. Therefore, this article using policy text analysis method-through the extraction and analysis method of keyword network keywords to analyze policies which supports STSME in Hefei. According to the analysis results, we put forward policy recommendations.
Performance of Nth Worst Full-Duplex Relay Selection over Nakagami-M Fading Channels  [PDF]

The performance analysis of Nth worst relay selection for the full-duplex (FD) mode over Nakagami-m fading channels is studied. We assume the relay employs the amplify-and-forward (AF) protocol. The closed-form expres-sions for the outage performance in terms of the received signal-to-noise ratio cumulative distribution function are derived. In the high signal-to-noise ratio regime, asymptotic outage probability is also investigated. Based on these expressions, the effect of several important network parameters, i.e., the number of relays and the order of selected relay, as well as the quality of the relay links, source-relay links, relay-destination links, are analytically characterized. Finally, numerical results are provided to verify and illustrate our mathematical analysis.
Regulation of Neuronal Cell Death by c-Abl-Hippo/MST2 Signaling Pathway

Abstract: Background Mammalian Ste20-like kinases (MSTs) are the mammalian homologue of Drosophila hippo and play critical roles in regulation of cell death, organ size control, proliferation and tumorigenesis. MSTs exert pro-apoptotic function through cleavage, autophosphorylation and in turn phosphorylation of downstream targets, such as Histone H2B and FOXO (Forkhead box O). Previously we reported that protein kinase c-Abl mediates oxidative stress-induced neuronal cell death through phosphorylating MST1 at Y433, which is not conserved among mammalian MST2, Drosophila Hippo and C.elegans cst-1/2. Methodology/Principal Findings Using immunoblotting, in vitro kinase and cell death assay, we demonstrate that c-Abl kinase phosphorylates MST2 at an evolutionarily conserved site, Y81, within the kinase domain. We further show that the phosphorylation of MST2 by c-Abl leads to the disruption of the interaction with Raf-1 proteins and the enhancement of homodimerization of MST2 proteins. It thereby enhances the MST2 activation and induces neuronal cell death. Conclusions/Significance The identification of the c-Abl tyrosine kinase as a novel upstream activator of MST2 suggests that the conserved c-Abl-MST signaling cascade plays an important role in oxidative stress-induced neuronal cell death.
