The UNIX Localization and Chinese Information Processing System

Abstract: To facilitate the wider use of computers all over the world,it is necessary to provide National Language Support in the computer systems.This paper introduces some aspects of design and implementation of the UNIX-based Chinese Information Processing Systems (CIPS). Due to the special nature of the Oriental languages,and in order to be able to share resources and exchange in formation between different countries,it is necessary to create a standard of multilingual information exchange code.The unified Chinese/Japanese/Korean character code,Han Character Collection(HCC),was proposed to ISO/IEC JTC1/SC2/WG2 by China Computer and Information Processing Standardization Technical Committee.Based on this character set and the corresponding coding system,it is possible to create a true Internationalized UNIX System.

Abstract: International use of the UNIX system in recent years provokes a need to expand its functionality. Extensions are needed to process data in various languages as the market requirement dictate1,2]. With the advent of open systems and interfaces, the method of internationalization (I18N) has become standardized. Hanzix Association was founded by the fortitute of Software, The Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISAS, Beijing), Institute of Information Industry (III, Taipei) and Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK, Hong Kong), and its aim is to promote an open system standard for Chinese character (Hanzi) processing. This paper presents Hanzix, an open system environment to support Hanzi processing, including enhancemed recommended for Hanzi API,input method mechedsm, codeset conversion and armuncement, and reviews the current work.

Abstract: The development of synapses is an important question in neurobiology. We employ patchclamp technique to record MEPCs and EPCs of myoballs inXenopus cell culture. The rate of EPC/MEPC is related with synapses maturation. Accordingly, we define the mature synapses as those whose rate of presynaptic membrane ’ s EPC to MEPC is more than 8. The process of maturation needs about 2–5 h after neuntes contact with myoballs. We divide the development of synapses into three stages: young, developing and mature. The neurotransmitters stack gradually and increase by hundreds of times along with young synapses growing into maturity. So the process of synapses maturation should include presynaptic membrane specialization, postsynaptic membrane specialization and neurotransmitters stack.
Help Less or Help More —Perceived Intergroup Threat and Out-Group Helping

Abstract: The present research investigated the relationship between intergroup threat and prosocial actions toward out-group members. We proposed that intergroup threat not only results in direct negative intergroup attitudes and behavior, but also promotes an indirect reduction in out-group helping. Study 1 (N = 54) was conducted in a realistic setting, whereas Study 2 (N = 92) employed an experimental context. Willingness to help (help intent) and monetary donation (help behavior) was compared between the threatening out-group and the non-threatening out-group. The results showed that when intergroup threat was experienced, more help was offered to the non-threatening out-group than the threatening out-group. The findings suggest that perceived intergroup threat attenuates prosocial behavior toward out-group members.

Integrating the Meaning of Person Names into Discourse Context: An Event-Related Potential Study

Abstract: The meaning of person names is determined by their associated information. This study used event related potentials to investigate the time course of integrating the newly constructed meaning of person names into discourse context. The meaning of person names was built by two-sentence descriptions of the names. Then we manipulated the congruence of person names relative to discourse context in a way that the meaning of person names either matched or did not match the previous context. ERPs elicited by the names were compared between the congruent and the incongruent conditions. We found that the incongruent names elicited a larger N400 as well as a larger P600 compared to the congruent names. The results suggest that the meaning of unknown names can be effectively constructed from short linguistic descriptions and that the established meaning can be rapidly retrieved and integrated into contexts.

Abstract: The subdivision graph $\mathcal{S}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the graph obtained by inserting a new vertex into every edge of $G$. Let $G_1$ and $G_2$ be two vertex disjoint graphs. The \emph{subdivision-vertex corona} of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1\odot G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|V(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, all vertex-disjoint, by joining the $i$th vertex of $V(G_1)$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$. The \emph{subdivision-edge corona} of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1\circleddash G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|I(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, all vertex-disjoint, by joining the $i$th vertex of $I(G_1)$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$, where $I(G_1)$ is the set of inserted vertices of $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$. In this paper we determine the adjacency spectra, the Laplacian spectra and the signless Laplacian spectra of $G_1\odot G_2$ (respectively, $G_1\circleddash G_2$) in terms of the corresponding spectra of $G_1$ and $G_2$. As applications, the results on the spectra of $G_1\odot G_2$ (respectively, $G_1\circleddash G_2$) enable us to construct infinitely many pairs of cospectral graphs. The adjacency spectra of $G_1\odot G_2$ (respectively, $G_1\circleddash G_2$) help us to construct many infinite families of integral graphs. By using the Laplacian spectra, we also obtain the number of spanning trees and Kirchhoff index of $G_1\odot G_2$ and $G_1\circleddash G_2$, respectively.

Abstract:
The way of cooperation between government and social capital is widely used in the field of infrastructure construction. According to relevant data, the social capital participating in PPP (Public Private Partnership) project is divided into three categories, and the strengths and weaknesses are analyzed; the evaluation index system of social capital is constructed from four aspects of financial ability, technical ability, management ability and historical project evaluation, and the selection evaluation model is constructed based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method; finally, taking a wastewater treatment plant PPP project as an example, the model is proved to be scientific and reasonable, and provides a new way for the government to choose social capital.
A New Indexing Method Based on Word Proximity for Chinese Text Retrieval

Abstract: This paper proposed a novel text representation and matching scheme for Chinese text retrieval. At present, the indexing methods of Chinese retrieval systems are either character-based or word-based. The character-based indexing methods, such as bi-gram or tri-gram indexing, have high false drops due to the mismatches between queries and documents. On the other hand, it's difficult to efficiently identify all the proper nouns, terminology of different domains, and phrases in the word-based indexing systems. The new indexing method uses both proximity and mutual information of the word pairs to represent the text content so as to overcome the high false drop, new word and phrase problems that exist in the character-based and word-based systems. The evaluation results indicate that the average query precision of proximity-based indexing is 5.2% higher than the best results of TREC-5.
